Carnegie Hall has announced the lineup for the summer 2023 season of Carnegie Hall Citywide, the Hall’s free concert series that brings live music to neighborhoods across New York City. 

Grammy-award-winning American organist Paul Jacobs will perform the Six Trio Sonatas by Johann Sebastian Bach at the Walt Disney Hall on Sunday evening, April 16, 7:30 PM PST.

It is a work that is rich with metaphor and symbolism.

The Joan W. and Irving B. Harris Theater for Music and Dance has announced its 20th anniversary season, bringing pioneering artists from around the globe to Chicago and continuing to champion the world-class ensembles and arts organizations that call the city home.

The adventurous Beo String Quartet, noted for its sterling sound and experimental as well as classical performances, will travel to Charleston, West Virginia, where the Charleston Ballet will present them in a program entitled 'BOLD MOVES,' as part of the ballet's season finale.

A Musica Sacra program spotlighting works by women composers spanning 500 years (April 18, 2023); the world premiere of a setting of the Stabat Mater for soloists, chorus, organ, and orchestra by David Briggs at the Cathedral of St. John the Divine, which will be livestreamed free of charge (March 8, 2023), and Bach's Mass in B Minor with the Oratorio Society of New York (May 8, 2023) are highlights of the spring 2023 season of Kent Tritle, who is Director of Cathedral Music and Organist at the Cathedral of St. John the Divine and Music Director of both the Oratorio Society of New York, the acclaimed volunteer ensemble, and Musica Sacra, New York's elite professional chorus.

The Cathedral of St. John the Divine, located at 1047 Amsterdam Avenue (at 112th Street), presents Sunday evening organ recitals under the direction of Kent Tritle, Director of Cathedral Music and Organist. From iconic works of J. S. Bach, to the mystical harmonies of Jeanne Demessieux and Maurice Duruflé, to new compositions by our own Cathedral organists, these programs explore a diverse array of musical traditions inside the Gothic interior of our Cathedral.

On Sunday, March 12 at 2:00 p.m., Harry Bicket conducts Handel's Solomon at Carnegie Hall with acclaimed baroque orchestra The English Concert.

Making his Tafelmusik debut this season as guest director is harpsichordist Francesco Corti, “a powerhouse of unbridled vivacity, exciting and excitable in equal measure” (BBC Music Magazine). Corti leads the orchestra in Bach's Library, a fascinating program of music by J. S. Bach and those who inspired him, including Steffani, Hasse, and Zelenka—composers whose manuscripts would have been part of his personal library.

The Grammy Award-winning Houston Chamber Choir, led by Robert Simpson and now in its 28th season, will perform “Desert Island Playlist” on Saturday, Nov. 19 at South Main Baptist Church for its third fall concert. “Desert Island Playlist” recognizes that there are certain pieces that touch us so deeply that we would not want to be without them even if stranded on a desert island.
