First Off-Broadway Revival of THE GOLDEN BRIDE Begins Performances This Week

Now entering its 101st season, the National Yiddish Theatre Folksbiene [NYTF] will present the first contemporary revival of the lost Yiddish American operetta THE GOLDEN BRIDE (Di Goldene Kale). Featuring a cast of 20 and an orchestra of 14, this rare glimpse back into musical theater history begins previews December 2 as part of NYTF's inaugural year in residency at the Museum of Jewish Heritage [MJH]. The production marks the first long-running, full-scale production hosted at the Museum's 375-seat Edmond J. Safra Hall, which will be specially transformed for this ambitious event. Opening night is slated for Wednesday, December 9.

Now entering its 101st season, the National Yiddish Theatre Folksbiene [NYTF] will honor David S. and Sylvia Steiner (joint lead producers on Golda's Balcony starring Tovah Feldshuh for Broadway and Film) at a Gala performance of the lost 1923 Yiddish American Operetta classic THE GOLDEN BRIDE on December 8 at the Museum of Jewish Heritage.

Now, entering into its 101st season and inaugural year in residency at the Museum of Jewish Heritage, NYTF takes on the rediscovered and restored Yiddish American Operetta The Golden Bride, playing December 2, 2015, through January 3, 2016, at the Museum of Jewish Heritage, 36 Battery Place, NYC. Last March, the West Coast premiere of the Yiddish Purim musical Di Megileh of Itzik Manger enjoyed a huge success, with four standing-room-only performances at the Jewish Community Center of the East Bay. In celebration of the 2015 Purim season, the New Yiddish Theater, in conjunction with the 30th Jewish Music Festival, takes pride in presenting a reprise with the same all-star lead performers and an updated choral arrangement. Performances will be given at 8 pm on February 26 & 28, March 1 & 3, with a matinee on Monday, March 2 at 1:30 pm. As before, all of the spoken and sung Yiddish will be super-titled in English.

The 99-Year Old National Yiddish Theatre - Folksbiene has launched its first ever crowdsourcing campaign. Hosted on Indiegogo, the purpose of this fundraising enterprise is to fund a new educational initiative in bringing students to its upcoming musical the critically-acclaimed production of THE MEGILE OF ITZIK MANGER, a circus-themed retelling of the Book of Esther returning to Baruch Performing Arts Center for two weeks only, March 2 - 16, just in time for Purim.
