Concord Theatricals has announced that it has secured exclusive licensing rights in North America to Our Town (Multilingual) by Thornton Wilder, with translations by Nilo Cruz and Jeff Augustin, for its Samuel French imprint.

Visionary art pop musician Angel Deradoorian has signed to ANTI- Records and announced her first album with the label. Titled Find The Sun, the celestial ten-track record will be released on May 22. Inspired by the freedom of Can and the singing style of Damo Suzuki as well as the influence of Indian spirituality on free jazz masters like Pharoah Sanders and Sun Ra,  Deradoorian gravitates to transportive, shamanic sounds on this record, wielding bells, flutes, and gongs in service of a rock record guided by the spirits. Theatre Upstairs of Phoenix, AZ and Tyler Boettcher & Lauren Rohs will present an industry staged reading of The Red Wool, a new raucous comedy by Broadway's Jeremy Kareken (Lifespan of a Fact). The industry presentation will take place on Monday, February 10th at a private residence in New York City. Tony Award winning playwright & actor Greg Kotis (Urinetown) will star as King Ashurnasirpal II, leading a Phoenix based cast. Frances Quinlan of Hop Along will release her official solo debut Likewise later this month on Saddle Creek—an album that has already been named one of the most anticipated of 2020 by numerous outlets like Pitchfork, Stereogum, Consequence of Sound, Paste, and more—and today she shares the sublime and rollicking next single “Your Reply.” This track reveals a narrator approaching a loved one with tenderness, even when met with a palpable silence. “There can be a one-sidedness to even the most loving and rewarding relationships,” Quinlan says. “We will always have a part of ourselves we can't or don't know how to share. There are so many risks involved. Regardless, I think of this song as celebratory. If anything, the speaker is frustrated at coming so close to understanding another person completely, but perhaps only just missing the mark. But still what a gift that is, to come close.”

Frances Quinlan of Hop Along is gearing up to release her official solo debut Likewise next month on Saddle Creek, and today she returns with a video for the record's lead single “Rare Thing.” On its release a few weeks ago, “Rare Thing” was received with widespread acclaim, marking the start of an exciting new chapter for Quinlan, who has made a name for herself as one of the most prominent songwriters with one of the most distinct and inimitable voices in the indie rock space over the past decade. As the lyrics relate a tumultuous dream about her then-infant niece, “Rare Thing” finds Quinlan expressing both joy and sadness in the discovery that a better, and perhaps more generous way to love exists. The entrancing song receives a mesmerizing Derrick Belcham-directed video, with Quinlan blending her talents as both a musician and visual artist as she creates 10+ feet tall paintings throughout the clip. Quinlan's visual art has been a key component of both much of Hop Along's records and apparel and Frances' solo work, with a self-portrait of Quinlan on the cover of the forthcoming Likewise.

Cameron Mackintosh today announces he is delighted that in honour of Stephen Sondheim's 90th birthday next March, the Queen's Theatre will be renamed the Sondheim Theatre, making him the only living artist to have a theatre named in his honour both in the West End and on Broadway. Following the renovation of wartime bomb damage and a major restoration of the auditorium and the complete backstage, the newly named Sondheim Theatre will continue as the home of world's longest running musical Les Miserables as it enters its 35th year.
