For the first time the reconstructed Globe Theatre will stage Shakespeare's most sumptuous and spectacular plays - Henry VIII on 15 May. Dominic Rowan will play the iconic Tudor King after his recent performance in the west-end production of The Misanthrope, and celebrated performance as Touchstone in the Globe's 2009 production of As You Like It.

Lantern Theater Company concludes its 2009/10 mainstage season with the rarely performed Henry IV, Part I. In the tradition of the Lantern's darkly comic, Barrymore Award-winning production of Richard III, this gripping, ripping plot from William Shakespeare's history canon features a cast of local actors and battles royale that will transport you to another time and place. A report out on the hollywoodreporter.com yesterday has revealed that Steve Buscemi, Stanley Tucci and Wren Arthur, the stage a screen stars that also run the Olive Productions have, have established the company's first TV projects: a drama for HBO starring Tucci and an animated comedy for TBS that will be voiced by Tucci and Buscemi.

This weekend, beginning Saturday, September 5, L.A. Theatre Works will air The Real Thing by Tom Stoppard, starring Andrea Bowen, Matt Gaydos, Carolyn Seymour, Simon Templeman, Douglas Weston, Joanne Whalley and Matthew Wolf. The broadcast can be heard locally in Southern California on Saturday from 10pm to midnight on KPCC 89.3 FM, and can also be streamed on demand at http://www.latw.org/.

This look at a life on the fringes of New York's Lower East Side comes on the heels of what could be Oliver's breakthrough role in the upcoming film from Napoleon Dynamite's Jared Hess, Gentlemen Broncos, opposite Sam Rockwell as well as a national ad campaign for mobile phones in Ireland that has become a cult phenomenon. This limited run Off-Broadway engagement is directed by Randy Sharp at Axis Theater where it premiered to critical acclaim in November 2008. Inhabiting the dark, mysterious halls of this East Village tenement building are a dwarf Cabalist, a possible Nazi, the landlord's former wet nurse who apparently lives in a nest of rags, and many others. This incredible cast of real life characters illuminates a sad, funny and uniquely New York story.

Axis Company will present an encore engagement of EAST 10TH STREET: SELF PORTRAIT WITH EMPTY HOUSE, a play by and about Downtown performance icon Edgar Oliver. Originally presented in November of 2008, this stark and enigmatic look at a life on the fringes of New York's Lower East Side was acclaimed by critics and embraced by record-breaking audiences at Axis. The production comes on the heels of what could be Oliver's breakthrough role in the upcoming film from Napoleon Dynamite's Jared Hess, Gentlemen Broncos, opposite Sam Rockwell as well as a national advertising campaign for mobile phones in Ireland that has also become a cult phenomenon.
