Signature Theatre To Offer Free Student Matinee Program

The Free Student Matinee Program of Signature Theatre (Paige Evans, Artistic Director; Harold Wolpert, Executive Director; James Houghton, Founder), sponsored byDelta Air Lines, will offer free performances of Dominique Morisseau's Paradise Blue, directed by Ruben Santiago-Hudson, and Stephen Adly Guirgis' Our Lady of 121st Street, directed by Phylicia Rashad, the company announced today. The student matinee performance of Paradise Blue will take place on Wednesday, May 16 at 1pm and the student matinee performances of Our Lady of 121st Street will take place on Wednesday, May 23 at 1pm and Wednesday, May 30 at 1pm. Performances will take place at The Pershing Square Signature Center (480 West 42nd Street between 9th and 10th Avenues).

The Signature Theatre (Paige Evans, Artistic Director; Harold Wolpert, Executive Director; James Houghton, Founder) production of Paradise Blue by Obie Award-winning playwright Dominique Morisseau and directed by Tony Award-winner Ruben Santiago-Hudson has been extended one week, the company announced today. The production, which opens on May 14, will now run through June 10, 2018.
Signature Theatre's OUR LADY OF 121ST STREET Announces Casting

Casting is confirmed and tickets are now on sale for the Signature Theatre (Paige Evans, Artistic Director; Harold Wolpert, Executive Director; James Houghton, Founder) production of Our Lady of 121st Street, by Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright Stephen Adly Guirgis and directed by Tony Award-winner Phylicia Rashad. This is the second production of Guirgis' Signature residency, which began last fall with the critically-acclaimed, extended production of Jesus Hopped the 'A' Train, directed by Mark Brokaw. Our Lady of 121st Street marks Rashad's New York City directorial debut.

Just last night, the Signature Theatre held its Annual Gala at The Pershing Square Signature Center (located at 480 West 42nd Street between 9th & 10th Avenues). The event celebrated the late Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright Edward Albee and honored the passionate and visionary leadership of former President of the Signature Board of Trustees, Michael Rauch.
Harold Wolpert Named Executive Director of Signature Theatre

Signature Theatre's Board of Trustees (Edward Norton, Chairman, and Nina Matis, President) announced today the appointment of Harold Wolpert as Executive Director of the Tony Award-winning company beginning April 2, 2018. He will serve alongside Artistic Director Paige Evans, who joined Signature in 2016. Mr. Wolpert is a three-time Tony Award-winner who has served in leadership roles at some of the country's premiere cultural organizations, including Roundabout Theater Company, where he was Managing Director until 2016.
