BWW Interview: Paige Silvester is 16 Going On 17 in THE SOUND OF MUSIC
by Heidi Scheuermann - Sep 20, 2016

Playing the oldest Von Trapp daughter, Liesl, is Paige Silvester. The role was made famous by the recently deceased Charmain Carr (may she rest in peace) in the 1965 film by the same name. Silvester hails from Sacramento, California; earned her BFA in Musical Theatre from the University of Michigan; is no stranger to the stage; and writes a really fun blog. She grew up dancing, singing, and acting, and has performed The Muny, Sacramento Music Circus, and was most recently seen in the ensemble of the Broadway 1st National Tour of EVITA.

BWW Review: An Opera Grows in Brooklyn, Part I - LoftOpera Takes on TOSCA
by Richard Sasanow - Mar 15, 2016

On the surface, LoftOpera and Regina Opera couldn't be more different--the former turning away hipsters in East Williamsburg (call it Bushwick), the latter providing a matinees-only environment for a family audience. But these two Brooklyn institutions do have one important thing in common: They respect the classics (TOSCA and LUCIA DI LAMMERMOOR, respectively)--do them up simply and well, and reach their audiences without gimmicks (or high prices). And, I found, their performances were more enjoyable than recent big-name outings of the same titles in New York, with performers who stood up well against better known names.

BWW Review: THE SOUND OF MUSIC Blends Realism, Romanticism at Dr. Phillips Center
by Matt Tamanini - Jan 6, 2016

There is something both familiar and jarring about the brand new North American tour of THE SOUND OF MUSIC, running at Orlando's Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts through Sunday, January 10th. While the beloved musical about a nun turned governess still has all of the iconic songs by Richard Rodgers (music) and Oscar Hammerstein II (lyrics), including 'My Favorite Things,' 'Do-Re-Mi (complete with solfege hand signs),' and the title song, this production focuses more intently on the real-world danger that the Trapp family faced leading up to the outbreak of World War II.
