Pasadena Playhouse to Host New Youth Showcase JUNIOR'S GOT TALENT!, 8/30 & 9/8

The Pasadena Playhouse, in partnership with Vivian Chan, President, Asian Link Marketing (ALM), along with special production sponsor ETTV, announce JUNIOR'S GOT TALENT!, an education-focused youth talent showcase that will take place on the Mainstage of The Pasadena Playhouse. The showcase performances will be on Friday, August 30 and Sunday, September 8, 2013, as a part of The Playhouse's Wells Fargo Theatrical Diversity Project.

The Pasadena Playhouse announces a new summer festival, CIRQUE-A- PALOOZA, which will feature variety shows along with hilarious, visually stunning and breathtaking Cirque-style specialty acts that will perform on The Playhouse Mainstage and the Carrie Hamilton Theatre. The CIRQUE-A-PALOOZA festival will launch on July 19 and perform through August 11, 2013.

Boho Theatre Explores Fantasy and Reality in KISS OF THE SPIDER WOMAN, Now thru 6/30

BoHo Theatre will present the musical Kiss of the Spider Woman, by John Kander, Fred Ebb, and Terrence McNally, based on the novel by Manuel Puig, as the final production in its 2012/2013 season. The production will run tonight, May 31st through June 30th at Theater Wit in Lakeview.

The Pasadena Playhouse 2013-14 Season Subscriptions Now On Sale

The Pasadena Playhouse (Sheldon Epps, Artistic Director and Elizabeth Doran Executive Director) announced that subscriptions to the 2013-2014 season are now on sale. The season will include a revival of the longest-running Broadway musical revue, Smokey Joe's Cafe featuring the musical masterpieces of the legendary team of Jerry Leiber and Mike Stoller; Stoneface, by Vanessa Claire Stewart and starring French Stewart ("3rd Rock From the Sun") which enjoyed a successful run at Sacred Fools Theatre Company this past summer and recently won five LA Weekly Theatre Awards; Above the Fold, a new drama by Bernard Weinraub, about the world of journalism in the digital age, which received a HOTHOUSE at The Playhouse staged reading in 2012; Noel Coward's rarely produced A Song at Twilight, directed by Art Manke, who recently directed The Playhouse's hit revival of Coward's Fallen Angels; and a theatrical surprise production that will be selected and directed by Playhouse Artistic Director Sheldon Epps, to be announced at a later date. Panto at The Playhouse returns with Lythgoe Family Productions' special musical twist on the classic Aladdin tale with Aladdin and His Winter Wish, which will be offered as a holiday season add-on. The 2013-2014 Season begins September 2013. All renewing subscribers will receive priority access to their current seat locations and new subscribers will receive the best available seats within requested sections.

BoHo Theatre will present the musical Kiss of the Spider Woman, by John Kander, Fred Ebb, and Terrence McNally, based on the novel by Manuel Puig, as the final production in its 2012/2013 season. The production will run May 31st through June 30th at Theater Wit in Lakeview. Kiss of the Spider Woman is directed by BoHo Artistic Director Peter Marston Sullivan, director of such previous BoHo hits as Floyd Collins and Big River. The production features Nathan Carroll as Molina, Evan Tyrone Martin as Valentin, and Jennifer Grubb as Aurora the Spider Woman. Kiss of the Spider Woman represents the Bohemian Pillar of Love.

The Pasadena Playhouse (Sheldon Epps, Artistic Director and Elizabeth Doran Executive Director) announced today that the "best party in Pasadena" annual fundraiser entitled PREMIERE GALA "DESTINATION": AN AFFAIR TO REMEMBER would be held at a private club in Pasadena on Saturday, June 1, 2013 at 6:30 p.m. This year's event will honor Playhouse Alumni/supporter and Broadway producer Kathleen K. Johnson. The Playhouse Board of Directors will be spearheading this red carpet gala event inspired by the Hollywood glamour of the 1940s and 1950s.

The Pasadena Playhouse (Sheldon Epps, Artistic Director and Elizabeth Doran, Executive Director) in association with Todd Gershwin and Daniel Chilewich of One Night Productions, LLC, the Estate of Janis Joplin and Jeff Jampol of JAM, Inc. announced that in less than four weeks into its engagement, ONE NIGHT WITH JANIS JOPLIN has officially become the highest-grossing production in the history of The Pasadena Playhouse, breaking a previous record held by Stormy Weather which played for eight weeks in January - March, 2009. The production enters its final two weeks of performances, playing through April 21, 2013.
