The Off-Broadway League today gave out awards in 14 categories and two additional special awards for the 2013 Lucille Lortel Awards for Outstanding Achievement Off-Broadway. The Lortel Awards were handed out on Sunday, May 5, 2013 at NYU Skirball Center, hosted by acclaimed stage and screen actors Aasif Mandvi and Maura Tierney. This year's event once again benefited The Actors Fund.

It was announced back in February that Honeymoon in Vegas, a new musical, would open on Broadway in the spring of 2013 following a premiere engagement this November in Toronto. A production source tells BroadwayWorld.com that 'The New York producers have decided not to open the show in Toronto this fall because of scheduling issues. Future plans for the production will be announced soon.'

Written by Mike Bartlett, directed by James Macdonald and starring Jason Butler Harner as M, Amanda Quaid as W, Cory Michael Smith as John and Cotter Smith as F, COCK is playing Off-Broadway at The Duke on 42nd Street, a New 42nd Street project. The Royal Court Theatre's Olivier Award-winning play COCK opens tonight, Thursday, May 17. Written by Mike Bartlett, directed by James Macdonald and starring Jason Butler Harner as M, Amanda Quaid as W, Cory Michael Smith as John and Cotter Smith as F, COCK is playing Off-Broadway at The Duke on 42nd Street, a NEW 42ND STREET project, 229 West 42nd Street, on Thursday, May 17 (previews began May 1).

A limited number of $25 Student Rush tickets will be available for the Royal Court Theatre's Olivier Award-winning production of COCK, subject to availability, two hours prior to curtain at the Duke Theater box office. A valid ID is required and there is a limit of two tickets per ID per person.

Honeymoon in Vegas, a new musical, will open on Broadway in the spring of 2013 following a premiere engagement this November in Toronto. Based on the Castle Rock Entertainment Motion Picture of the same title, Honeymoon in Vegas features music and lyrics by Tony Award-winner Jason Robert Brown and a book by Andrew Bergman (director and screenwriter of the film). Gary Griffin (The Color Purple) will direct.

Now, Michael Riedel reports in the New York Post that the show is on the 'fast track' to Broadway, aiming for the 2012-13 season. The $10 million dollar production is to be directed by Gary Griffin (The Color Purple) and heading up the producing team is Dena Hammerstein.
