New Perspectives Announces New Associates 2019

Nottingham based touring company New Perspectives are offering to support a group of up to six new creative practitioners from the East Midlands region. Through this new opportunity early-career artists will have a chance to gain a close insight into the workings of the company, feed in their own ideas, benefit from a range of company contacts and receive support with their own work. They will act as ambassadors for New Perspectives, helping to spread the word about productions and programmes, and helping to shape the future.

Following a Stage Award winning run at Edinburgh Festival Fringe and a sold-out week at the Arcola in September, News Perspectives adaptation of the Booker Prize-nominated novel by Chigozie Obioma will return to the Arcola for a two-week run. Gbolahan Obisesan has adapted the story of four brothers torn apart by a prophecy. In a small Nigerian town, Ben and Obembe slip away to fish at a forbidden river along with their two older brothers. Risking the wrath of their father, who expects great things of them all, they continue unnoticed and carefree until one day the prophecy of a madman changes the course of their lives. Based on the Man Booker Prize-shortlisted novel by one of Africa's major new voices, New Perspectives in association with HOME present Chigozie Obioma's powerful allegory of brotherhood, vengeance and fate.

Josie Lawrence And Joe McGann Star In LOVE LIES BLEEDING By Don DeLillo

Pentabus Theatre Company and New Perspectives Present CROSSINGS

As we approach the centenary of the Armistice of 1918, leading rural touring companies New Perspectives and Pentabus have joined forces for the first time to explore the legacies of conflict and the unexpected stories that emerge from war. Shifting between 1919 and 2019, this subversive piece of new writing by award-winning Irish playwright Deirdre Kinahan looks at solace across the century: those who have found refuge in the English countryside from more recent conflicts in Sarajevo, and those who turned to women's clothing to escape the bravado and brutality of military life in the WW1 trenches.

New Perspectives in Association with Lincolnshire One Venues Presents FINDING NANA

Set in a seaside hotel of halcyon childhood summers, this autobiographical play by award-winner Jane Upton journeys back to find a beloved Nana before she forgot who she was. Finding Nana was first seen at the Pleasance Courtyard at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe in 2017, and now embarks on a tour of village halls and theatre studio spaces. Stacey Evans (Wolves are Coming for You, Pentabus) stars in this one-woman show.

Following an ambitious year that culminated in the first rural tour of Richard Bean's epic farming saga Harvest, 2018 will see New Perspectives touring increasingly adventurous new theatre to spaces of all shapes and sizes, from mid-scale theatres to village halls. From rural Nigeria to modern Mumbai to the 1960's English countryside, the company will be bringing global stories to audiences across the UK.

This autumn Nottingham Playhouse and New Perspectives join forces with acclaimed novelist John Harvey to bring his most famous creation, jazz-loving detective Charlie Resnick, to the stage for the very first time. DARKNESS DARKNESS, which is Harvey's own adaptation of his bestselling novel, runs from September 30 to October 15. The production is part of the Playhouse's Sweet Vengeance season, which explores the themes of revenge, justice and resentments buried deep, in a series of work that also includes Peter Shaffer's Sleuth (September) and Thomas Middleton's The Revenger's Tragedy (November).

Full casting is today announced for the world premiere of PlacePrints. Print Room at the Coronet is proud to welcome Toby Jones and Juliet Stevenson leading the company in a semi-staged production of four new dramatic works by David Rudkin, inspired by British rural landscapes and presented in associated with East Midlands touring theatre company New Perspectives. Jack McNamara also directs Richard Lynch, Hugh Ross and Frances Tomelty. The readings will take place over two nights and also complements Rudkin's new translation of Jean Genet's Deathwatch which is on at the Print Room at the Coronet from 11 April - 7 May.

Manhattan Theatre Club is pleased to announce the New York premiere of Of Good Stock, the new play by Melissa Ross (Thinner Than Water, Too Much Too Soon), directed by MTC's award-winning Artistic Director Lynne Meadow (The Assembled Parties, Wit, The Tale of the Allergist's Wife). The limited engagement of Of Good Stock will begin previews Tuesday, June 2 and open Tuesday, June 23 at MTC at New York City Center -- Stage I (131 West 55th Street).

59E59 Theaters will welcome New Perspectives back to Brits Off Broadway with the US premiere of David Rudkin's THE LOVESONG OF ALFRED J HITCHCOCK, directed by Jack McNamara. THE LOVESONG OF ALFRED J HITCHCOCK begins performances tonight, May 1 for a limited engagement through Sunday, May 25. Press opening is Wednesday, May 7 at 7 PM. The performance schedule is Tuesday - Thursday at 7 PM; Friday at 8 PM; Saturday at 2 PM & 8 PM; Sunday at 3 PM & 7 PM.
