Old Library Theatre, Fair Lawn Recreation Department's resident theater company, is proud to present its Youth Production of 13 - The Musical. Directed by four former OLT interns, under the mentorship of two adult OLT producers, the show tells the story of young Evan Goldman. Following a move from New York City to small-town Indiana, Evan grapples with his parents' divorce, prepares for his impending Bar Mitzvah, and navigates the complicated social circles of a new school.

Chris Isaacson Presents and the Hilton Los Angeles/Universal City have announced NEW YEAR'S EVE 2016: A POP ROCKIN' CELEBRATION with special guest pop icon Belinda Carlisle and also starring Frenchie Davis, Rogelio Douglas Jr., David Hernandez, Maya, and Jake Simpson, performing hits from the 80s to today as well as fresh arrangements of favorites from the Great American Songbook and classic rhythm and blues. American Idol Breakout Sensation David Hernandez brings his affable personality and dynamic vocal abilities to The Copa Palm Springs for one very special performance, September 12 at 8:00 pm. In addition to American Idol, David has showcased his talents on The Ellen Show, The Today Show, MTV's TRL, EXTRA, Entertainment Tonight, Access Hollywood, Teen Choice Awards, TV Guides' Sexiest Stars 2008, Idol Tonight, Idol Gives Back and FOX-TV. A once-in-a-lifetime invitation came to David when he was asked to sing at the Inaugural Kick-Off Celebration ball for President Barack Obama. I had the chance to catch up with David as he is preparing for his Palm Springs concert. Here are a few excerpts from the interview.

Writers Theatre opens its 9th annual tour of The MLK Project: The Fight for Civil Rights, written by Yolanda Androzzo, directed by Jimmy McDermott and featuring Caren Blackmore. A special Martin Luther King, Jr. Day public performance will take place at 10:30am on January 19 at the Chicago History Museum, 1601 N Clark Street in Chicago. The kickoff event also includes a post-show community discussion. The event is free and open to the public, and audience members will also receive free museum admission for the remainder of the day.

Two world premiere children's musicals helmed by A-list Chicago theater artists - Leo Lionni's Frederick, directed by Stuart Carden, and Wonderland, Alice's Rock & Roll Adventure, co-created by Michael Mahler and Rachel Rockwell, were announced today as the opening and closing productions of Chicago Children's Theatre's 2014-15 season. Chicago Children's Theatre (CCT) will also celebrate its 10th birthday season by bringing back its 2008 smash hit The Selfish Giant by Blair Thomas and Michael Smith.
