The Kite Runner is officially open on Broadway! Based on Khaled Hosseini's internationally best-selling novel and adapted by Matthew Spangler, the production comes to New York from two successful seasons in London's West End and will run through October 30 at The Hayes Theater (240 West 44th Street). It was quite the eventful night for THE BAND'S VISIT. The show won Tonys in 10 of the 11 categories for which it was nominated, including the biggest prize of the evening, Best Musical. However, trophies weren't the only things to be excited about, as in the press room a long wafting rumor was confirmed as we learned that Israeli actor Sasson Gabai would be taking over the role that won Tony Shalhoub a Tony award beginning on June 26.
THE BAND'S VISIT to Launch Tour in 2019; New Block of Broadway Tickets on Sale Now

The North American Tour of The Band's Visit will launch in Providence, Rhode Island in June 2019. Exact dates and additional cities will be announced at a later date. The show's producers also announced today that a new block of tickets for The Band's Visit are now on sale through Sunday, February 17, 2019.

Last night, the company of The Band's Visit (including Tony Award nominees Katrina Lenk and Ari'el Stachel), and the musical's on stage Alexandria Ceremonial Police Orchestra (George Abud, Ossama Farouk, Sam Sadigursky, Harvey Valdesand Garo Yellin) invited the real life NYPD Ceremonial Police Band (under the direction of Lieutenant Tony Giorgio). The band attended the performance, and then joined in on stage to play a song together.

Theatre Forward and Chairman John Thomopoulous just led a celebration to support American theatre at the annual Chairman's Awards Gala last night, April 9th at The Pierre New York (2 East 61st Street at Fifth Avenue). The Chairman's Awards Gala supports the work of Theatre Forward, currently celebrating its 40th Anniversary season, which is dedicated to advancing American theatres and its communities through its Educating Through Theatre and Advancing Strong Theatre initiatives.
