LAMDA Spring Season 2019 Announced

LAMDA (London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art) today announces its spring season 2019, running from 5 February to 11 April at the drama school's West London campus. Directed by industry professionals, LAMDA's productions showcase graduating acting and technical students' talent as they prepare to embark on their professional careers. LAMDA graduates have gone on to enjoy illustrious careers on stage, screen and behind the scenes, with alumni including Benedict Cumberbatch, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Ruth Wilson and David Oyelowo. As part of its commitment to offer local residents increased access to the dramatic arts, half price tickets are available for Hammersmith & Fulham residents.

The TCU College of Fine Arts is proud to commence their fall season with bare, a pop-rock musical with lyrics by Jon Hartmere Jr. and music by Damon Intrabartolo, running Sept. 25-28 and 30, 2018. The acclaimed theatre department at TCU will challenge its audience through the cautionary narrative that explores stigmatizations and imposed guilt surrounding the exploration of sexuality and young love. bare provokes a heavy range of emotions from exhilaration to poignancy, while confronting issues and influences experienced in the LGBTQ+ community.

Without a doubt, an individual's teenage years can be fraught with tension and riddled with despair and even when that is leavened by the joy of self-discovery and the constant gaining of knowledge that accompanies adolescence, there's a steep learning curve that some are unable to embrace gracefully. All of that is apparent in bare, a pop opera, the almost completely sung-through "rock musical" currently onstage at Nashville's Music Valley Event Center in a production from director Seth Limbaugh's Radical Arts.

Theatre Uncovered returns with its third annual production, after producing Heathers The Musical in 2016 and Spring Awakening in 2017. BARE, by Jon Hartmere Jr. and Damon Intrabartolo, explores the relationships between a group of catholic high school students who are struggling to feel heard by church leaders and are desperate to hear the voice of God over their individual struggles. At the center of the story are Peter Simonds (played by Andrew Sabonis-Chafee) and Jason McConnell (played by Nicholas Carlin), two students who secretly are engaged in a on-and-off relationship. Both struggle to reconcile their love for eachother with their belief that being gay might be sinful.

BroadwayWorld has just learned that bare, the movie is in the works from Tony nominated producers Hillary Butorac Weaver and Janet Billig Rich and Tony nominated director Kristin Hanggi at the helm. Hanggi was the original director of the musical and adapted the screenplay for the film.
