Gideon Glick, Michael Laurence, and Tasha Lawrence to Lead Samuel D. Hunter's THE FEW at Rattlestick

Rattlestick Playwrights Theater Artistic Director David Van Asselt and Managing Director Brian Long have announced that the New York premiere of The Few, written by Samuel D. Hunter and directed by Davis McCallum, will begin previews Wednesday, April 23 at 7pm at Rattlestick Playwrights Theater, 224 Waverly Place. The official opening night is set for Thursday, May 8 at 7pm; The Few is scheduled to run through Sunday, June 8.

Winning upwards of 50 awards (including Los Angeles Drama Critics Circle, LA Weekly, Ovation, Garland, and BEST PRODUCTION two years in a row), the company was lauded as 'Best Theatre Company of 2012' by the LA Weekly. Falling will open tonight, October 12, 2013, with a reception to follow, and is set to play 8pm Fridays and Saturdays, 3pm Sundays through December 1, 2013 at 5041 Pico Blvd., LA, Calif.

The Broadway revival of Horton Foote's beloved classic, The Trip to Bountiful, opened on April 23, at the Stephen Sondheim Theatre (124 W 43rd St). Directed by Michael Wilson, the cast features Academy Award nominee and Emmy Award-winning actress Cicely Tyson, Academy Award winner Cuba Gooding, Jr, Emmy Award nominee and recording star Vanessa Williams, and Tony Award nominee Condola Rashad. Formed in 2012 by Tony Award-nominated actress, Hallie Foote, and her siblings, Daisy Foote, Walter Foote, and Horton Foote, Jr., the HORTON FOOTE LEGACY PROJECT (HFLP) is a new not-for-profit endeavor whose mission is to support emerging and established American playwrights and to preserve and advance the legacy of Horton Foote and his body of work. In an effort to achieve this mission, the organization is launching its inaugural Horton Foote Writer's Retreat, a program that gives writers the rare opportunity to reside and write undisturbed in Horton Foote's preserved Wharton, Texas home.

Katselas Theatre Company and Rogue Machine's DIRTY FILTHY Adds Performance to Weekly Schedule

The Katselas Theatre Company and Rogue Machine will present an extended run of the current hit, DIRTY FILTHY LOVE STORY (CRITIC'S CHOICE-LA Times). The popular Skylight Theatre is the new venue for the show as Rogue Machine and The Katselas Theatre Company prepare for their 2013 season. Due to overwhelming demand, this production will now have four performances a week, beginning January 18th.

I'll spare you any idioms regarding the distance between apples and trees while examining the newest work of Daisy Foote, the playwright who carries on the lineage of one of America's treasured dramatist, the late Horton Foote.  But comparison is inevitable as the daughter's most recent work has a similar voice to that of her father; just differently accented.

On Tuesday, April 3rd, Primary Stages (Casey Childs, Founder & Executive Producer; Andrew Leynse, Artistic Director; Elliot Fox, Managing Director) celebrated opening night of The Morini Strad, a new play by Willy Holtzman (Sabina). Directed by Casey Childs, the cast features Michael Laurence (Krapp39, Broadway's Talk Radio, Opus at Primary Stages), Tony nominee Mary Beth Peil ('The Good Wife,' 'Dawson's Creek,' The King and I), and celebrated violin soloist Hanah Stuart (Chicago Symphony Hall, Zankel Hall). The production features a set design by Neil Patel, costume design by David C. Woolard, lighting design by Mary Louise Geiger, original music and sound design by Lindsay Jones, and projection design by Jan Hartley.The limited engagement plays through April 28 at Primary Stages at 59E59 Theaters.
