Just For One Day, the new Old Vic musical inspired by the legendary Live Aid concert, could be headed to London's West End!

The story of Live Aid, raising hundreds of millions remains compelling. Bob Geldof's indefatigable efforts to rouse the world into action deserve to be brought to the stage, but not necessarily in this format.

The Old Vic has announced further casting for the upcoming musical Just For One Day, written by John O’Farrell (Mrs Doubtfire, Something Rotten) and directed by Luke Sheppard (& Juliet, The Little Big Things). 

As previously reported by BroadwayWorld, The Old Vic by permission of The Band Aid Charitable Trust, has confirmed the world premiere of Just For One Day. 

According to Deadline, the Live Aid musical, titled Just for One Day will premiere at the Old Vic Theatre in early 2024. Legendary Rock singer Bob Geldof, who organized the original concerts, will collaborate on the musical, which is devised and directed by Luke Sheppard. The official Matilda Twitter account introduced us to the new cast members with a video of the girls baking with Craige Els, who will be playing Miss Trunchbull. The girls talk about what superpower they would have, who their inspiration is, their hobbies and more while creating a 'tour cake.'

The title role will be shared by Annalise Bradbury, Lara Cohen, Poppy Jones and Nicola Turner. Today, the Royal Shakespeare Company announces the adult casting for the first five venues of the Matilda The Musical 2018/19 UK and Ireland Tour. Craige Els will reprise the role of Miss Trunchbull, having played her in the West End for three years between 2014 and 2017. He will be joined by Carly Thoms as Miss Honey and Sebastien Torkia as Mr Wormwood as well as former West End cast-mate Rebecca Thornhill as Mrs Wormwood.

The Royal Shakespeare Company's multi award-winning production of Matilda the Musical now stars Lilian Hardy, Emma Moore and Eva-Marie Saffrey joining Abbie Vena the title role of Matilda. Performances at the Cambridge Theatre are currently on sale until 17 December 2017.
