DANCENOWNYC kicks off its 20th anniversary season with the world premiere of NEWYORKnewyork@AstorPlace, a new dance-theater work by Obie and Bessie Award-winning choreographer Mark Dendy. Performances will take place today-Friday, May 6-8 at 7pm, and Saturday, May 9 at 7pm and 9pm, at Joe's Pub at The Public Theater.

New York-based Camille A. Brown & Dancers bring their gutsy moves and virtuosic musicality to The O'Shaughnessy stage for one night only February 21 at 7:30pm. A Women of Substance event, The O'Shaughnessy and Ordway Center for the Performing Arts will co-present the acclaimed company, who will perform excerpts from the regional premiere of the Bessie Award-winning 'Mr. TOL E. RAncE,' the Midwest preview of 'Black Girl: Linguistic Play' and 'New Second Line.' The company uses high theatricality and the aesthetics of African, ballet, contemporary, tap and social dances to tell stories that connect history with contemporary American culture.

The exciting lineup of artists features many fan favorites, including festival veterans and returning artists, alongside rising stars and festival newcomers. 2014 marks the 19th annual season of the DANCENOW Festival.

Camille A. Brown & Dancers (CAB&D), recognized for its visceral movement and unflinching approach to comedic and controversial themes, announces Black Girl Spectrum, a multi-faceted community engagement initiative. The new yearlong initiative, lead by Bessie-nominated choreographer Camille A. Brown, uses dance as a means to address civic, educational, and economic struggle through cultural and creative empowerment. Aimed to explore the spectrum of identities among African American females, the initiative will also serve as participatory research to mold and inform Brown's new work-in-progress, Black Girl (working title), which is slated to premiere in September 2015.

Bryn Mawr Performing Arts Series announces its season of five productions of music, dance, theater and film. The season features a Shakespeare Birthday Bash, Camille A. Camille A. Brown & Dancers, recognized for its visceral movement and unflinching approach to comedic and controversial themes, will embark on a 3-city Northeast tour, starting this weekend. The company is to visit Boston, Washington D.C. and Philadelphia in March and April to perform Camille A. Brown's acclaimed 2013 Mr. TOL E. RAncE, as well as other repertory favorites. The company will be presented by World Music/CRASHarts at the Institute of Contemporary Art in Boston on March 14-15, The Atlas in Washington D.C. onApril 5-6, and Painted Bride Arts Center in Philadelphia on April 11-12. D.C and Philadelphia performances will feature the full version of Mr. TOL E. RAncE and also includes live piano accompaniment by Scott Patterson, playing an original eclectic score-composed by Patterson, Brandon McCune, Jonathan Melville Pratt and Kurt 'KC' Clayton.
