Lincoln Center's Midsummer Night Swing Announces Week One Events 6/29-8/3

From tango to two-step, swing to salsa, Week One of 2010's Midsummer Night Swing has something for everyone - everyone who likes to dance, that is. Starting on Tuesday evening, June 29th and running through Saturday evening, July 3rd -Week One kicks off with a Battle of the Bands between East Coast swing-meisters The George Gee Orchestra versus West Coast swingers The Bill Elliott Swing Orchestra.

American pop music has a plethora of songs with French titles. Take, for example, Rodgers' & Hammerstein's 'Dites-moi', and Lerner and Loewe's 'C'est moi' from the world of Broadway. And, legendary French pop singers of the past like Chevalier, Piaf, Brel and Aznavour are almost as well known in the US as Dylan, Presley and Sinatra. So, we should not take for granted the effects of French culture on American music. International singer Lee Lessack concurs as he presents an outstanding cabaret of mixed French and American tunes with a French flavor called Chanteur, vibrantly conceived by director Brian Lane Green.

Lincoln Center Announces Midsummer Night Swing Schedule, Runs 6/29-7/17

Tickets are on sale now for Lincoln Center's 22nd season of Midsummer Night Swing which will take place every Tuesday through Saturday, June 29-July 17 (except July 13, which will be replaced with a night of dancing on Monday, July 12th). The program will take place in Swing's home, Lincoln Center's Damrosch Park, on West 62nd Street between Columbus and Amsterdam Avenues.

David Campbell's 'On Broadway' Album Gets 4/2 Australian Release

Australian actor/muscian David Campbell will be releasing his new album, 'On Broadway' on April 2, 2010, in Australia the star has announced on his Facebook page. The disc was recorded at East West Studios in Los Angeles in January 2010, and produced by leading musical director Rob Fisher and veteran arranger Bill Elliott. The release will coincide with a tie-in television documentary David Campbell On Broadway airing on arts channel STVDIO on April 3, 2010.
