The acoustics of Birdland, usually employed to perfectly show off the music coming from some of the finest Jazz musicians in the world was also up to the task of accurately accommodating the elegant sounds from the cello and artistry of Mairi Dorman-Phaneuf. The American Theatre Wing just presented the 2018 Jonathan Larson® Grants recipients are Jay Adana (music and lyrics), Andrew R. Butler & Andrew Farmer (music, lyrics, and book), Emily Kaczmarek& Zoe Sarnak (music, lyrics, and book), and Mark Sonnenblick(music and lyrics). Four prestigious, unrestricted grants of $10,000 each, as well as additional support in the form of residencies, concerts, and recording grants, totaling over $48,000 were given at a private event at the WNYC Greene Space.

Producer/Directors Tom and Michael D'Angora were welcomed American Idol and Hairspray alum Diana Degarmo to The Marvelous Wonderettes, whose official opening was Thursday, June 2nd.  For her opening night performance, DeGarmo was joined onstage with a surprise cameo from her husband, former Idol alum and star of Broadway's Hair, Ace Young, as the audience participant, Mr Lee.  The show celebrated with friends and Broadway stars afterwards at Oovina Latin Kitchen and Wine Bar.

After a sold-out Feinstein's/54 Below debut in February, Ryann Redmond brings her very first solo show back to the stage! Ryann first broke onto the scene as Bridget in the Tony nominated Bring It On the Musical for which she received abundant critical acclaim. Stephen Brown of New York Magazine raved, 'As for show-stealers, well, it's a talent melee: Ryann Redmond slays us as Bridget, a nerdy, big-boned laugh-track of a cheer-wannabe who ends up with her own storyline.' David Rooney of the Hollywood Reporter applauded Ryann's 'winning comic turns.' Ryann recently appeared in Broadway's If/Then and then headed to the MUNY to play Tracy Turnblad in Hairspray this past summer.
