In his Broadway debut in 1988, BD Wong won his Tony Award (Best Featured Actor in a Play) for his ground-breaking role of Song Liling in David Henry Hwang's M. BUTTERFLY. Over the last year, in between shooting his two television series (as Whiterose on Mr. Robot, and as Awkwafina's father in Comedy Central's Awkwafina Is Nora From Queens), BD has managed to star in two theatrical productions of Lauren Yee's THE GREAT LEAP (in New York and in San Francisco), and now will be directing THE GREAT LEAP at the Pasadena Playhouse, which begins previews today November 6, 2019.

Theater Resources Unlimited (TRU) presents the second workshop in the series How to Wrote a Musical That Works, Conflict & Obstacles, onSunday, February 25, 2018 from 10am - 6pm at NOLA Rehearsal Studio, 244 W 54th St., 5th floor, Studio 5. Submission fee is $10 for members, $20 for non-members. If accepted, it will be applied to a participation fee of $100 ($80 for TRU members). Those not selected will be invited and encouraged to attend the workshop as observers. The price is $55 ($35 for TRU members). La Jolla Playhouse announces the cast and creative team for its 2018 Performance Outreach Program (POP) Tour production, Home of the Brave, by Lee Cataluna, directed by Honolulu Theatre for Youth Artistic Director Eric Johnson (2014 POP Tour, Suzette Who Set to Sea). The production will tour schools throughout San Diego County January 29 March 30, 2018. Co-commissioned by the Playhouse and Honolulu Theatre for Youth, this world-premiere play for young audiences will also have four public performances on March 10 & 11, 2018 at 1:00pm and 3:00pm in the Playhouse's Rao and Padma Makineni Play Development Center.

The Dramatists Legal Defense Fund ('DLDF') just presented 'Banned Together: A Censorship Cabaret' as a part of Banned Books Week (September 25-October 1st), the annual celebration of the freedom to read. 

The evening belonged to Hillary and Streisand. Streisand's set started out with 'Everything' from her 1970 film A STAR IS BORN, 'Being at War With Each other' by Carole King, 'Losing My Mind' by Stephen Sondheim from her new ENCORE album and 'Pure Imagination' addressing the environment (also from ENCORE). Then the place went wild when she performed Stephen Sondheim's 'Send in the Clowns' with re-written lyrics skewering Republican Presidential candidate Donald Trump. The audience went wild and Barbra received 9 standing ovations!

Broadway's new musical comedy DISASTER!, directed by Jack Plotnick with a book by three-time Emmy Award nominee and Grammy Award nominee Seth Rudetsky and Jack Plotnick, officially opened last night, March 8, 2016, for a limited engagement through Sunday, July 3, 2016. Two River Theater Company announces that, in partnership with New York University's Graduate Musical Theatre Writing Program, a dozen composers and lyricists will showcase original songs for the musical theater at a Cabaret at Two River Theater on Thursday, December 9 at 7:30 pm.

Directed by David Esbjornson (The Goat, Or Who Is Sylvia?), Driving Miss Daisy began performances on October 7, 2010, at the John Golden Theatre (252 West 45th Street), and officially opened Monday, October 25, 2010. The 16-week limited engagement runs through Saturday, January 29, 2011.

Restoration, written by Claudia Shear and directed by Christopher Ashley opened at the New York Theatre Workshop this week on May 19, 2010, at 7:00pm. The production runs through Sunday, June 13. On May 30, the first season of 'Spotlight', A Benefit to Support the Society of Singers Chapter East will close with a tremendous line-up of performers including Tony Award-winner B. D. Wong.

Prolific thespian Richard Harris has reprised his role of King Arthur once again, as he takes to the small screen in Acorn Media's DVD release of Lerner & Loewe's 'Camelot.' Also out is 'The Best of the Tony Awards - The Plays' for the first time individually.
