by Felicia Tassone - Aug 29, 2016

Do you remember what were you doing on September 27th, 1986?  That is how long Phantom of the Opera has been on stage.  Thirty years of audiences enjoying Sir Andrew Lloyd Webbers masterpiece.  On top of the longest running production on both the West End and Broadway, there is also currently a US touring production which has landed here in Denver.

BWW Review: National Tour Of Webber's PHANTOM OF THE OPERA Is A Dream Come True
by Jeffrey Walker - Jul 25, 2016

THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA I just experienced at the Kennedy Center renewed my faith in the show: it is a delight for all the senses, possesses dazzling stagecraft, and is performed by a cast that mines the romance, danger, and intrigue from the story and score. I declare this production a dream come true. Chris Mann, formerly a contestant on THE VOICE headlines the show in the title role, performing with mystery and power. His Christine on the night I attended, Kaitlyn Davis, was stunning, as well.

Spectacle wins out in Cameron Mackintosh's latest tour of Andrew Lloyd Webber's THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA at the Hollywood Pantages Theatre. Less reinvented than it is repackaged, the crowning glory of this production is its lavish costumes and sets (by Paul Brown and Maria Bjornson respectively), and the lush sounds of its 17-member orchestra (under the direction of Richard Carsey).

BWW Review: THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA Makes a Believer at Dr. Phillips Center
by Matt Tamanini - Dec 8, 2014

In the summer of 1998, as part of my high school's drama club, I made my first trip to New York City. Over the course of seven days, I saw eight musicals, both on and Off-Broadway. While I was already a devout musical theatre fan, seven of those eight solidified my love for the art form, while one left me cold, and slightly angry. That show was THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA. I have spent the past 16 years saying that Andrew Lloyd Weber and Charles Hart's musical was the worst Broadway or touring show that I have ever seen. So, when it was announced that its newly reimagined staging would be the first touring production to grace Orlando's Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts, I was honestly hopeful that as I aged, my appreciation for the longest running show in Broadway history would have as well; and I am happy to say that it most certainly did.
