The CUNY Dance Initiative (CDI), a university-wide residency program heading into its fourth season, is awarding 15 choreographers/dance companies residencies at 12 CUNY colleges in the first half of 2017. CDI, led by New York City's public university system, is a unique model for collaboration. By opening the doors of CUNY campuses to New York City choreographers and dance companies, CDI aims to support dance artists, enhance college students' cultural life and education, and build new audiences for dance at CUNY performing arts centers.

On Saturday, January 9, 2016, the National YoungArts Foundation (YoungArts) kicked off its 35th anniversary with the organization's annual Backyard Ball performance and gala. Themed 'Celebrating 35 Years Through the Lens of the Future,' the evening honored director and actress Rosie Perez and director Robert Wilson with Arison Awards, and performer, Tony Award nominee, YoungArts Master Teacher and 1997 YoungArts Winner in Theater Tony Yazbeck with the Arison Alumni Award. Eisa Davis, Gabriel Ebert, Nikki M. James, Joseph Keckler, Chris Sarandon, and Or Matias, on piano, lead LCT3/Lincoln Center Theater production of PRELUDES, a new musical by Dave Malloy, inspired by the music of Sergei Rachmaninov, developed with and directed by Rachel Chavkin. PRELUDES, a world premiere and the first musical to be produced by LCT3 in the Claire Tow Theater, began performances on May 23 and opens tonight, June 15, running through Sunday, July 19 at the Claire Tow Theater (150 West 65th Street).

Today the National YoungArts Foundation (YoungArts), the non-profit that contributes to the cultural vitality of the nation by supporting the artistic development of talented young artists, announced details of their fall series of public programs and performances at its Miami headquarters located at 2100 Biscayne Boulevard. Spanning many artistic disciplines, the programs will offer Miami audiences a chance to experience and support the work of emerging and established artists from across the country and the local Miami community.

A series of live performances - including tap dancing - will take place throughout the summer in conjunction with the exhibit, JAZZED! The Changing Beat of 125th Street at the Children's Museum of Manhattan (CMOM), located at 212 West 83rd Street between Broadway and Amsterdam Avenue. The exhibit itself, in partnership with the National Jazz Museum in Harlem, allows visitors to sing along with Ella Fitzgerald in the 'jazz club,' dance up the stairs with Bill 'Bojangles' Robinson's, and meet Duke Ellington and his famous jazz orchestra in the 'ballroom.' Over the past ten years, Jim Caruso's Cast Party has become the ultimate spot for show folk to mix, mingle and entertain themselves and the people who love them. It helps that Birdland, it's home base, has been a world-class music room since 1949, that the sound, lights, food and staff are all top-notch, and that the entertainers that drop in are accompanied by world-class musicians. This past Monday night, the cast of "Real Housewives of New York" joined in on the Cast Party fun. Music was made, fun was had, and there was some vamping, camping and scamping, what with series regulars LuAnn de Lesseps, Mario and Ramona Singer, Heather Thompson, and Sonja Morgan in the house. Ann Hampton Callaway created a fabulous impromptu song for the cast of characters, and Monica Mancini thrilled the crowd with two of her dad Henry's biggest hits, ably accompanied by Shelly Berg on piano and Dave Koz on sax. Beloved regulars like Christine Lavin, Therese Curatolo, Gabrielle Stravelli, T. Oliver Reid, Andrew Nemr, Lodi Carr, Jon Victor Corpus and Nancy Harms performed their hearts out. Jessica Keenan Wynn, Annika, Shane Stevens, Tabitha Fair, Cole Burden and Katherine Alcorn made brilliant debuts. Happily, Billy Stritch, Steve Doyle and Carmen Intorre were the Cast Party Symphony Orchestra, dazzling and accompanying everyone. Check out a look back below!

The Off-Broadway Production of Around the World in 80 Days opens tonight, May 30, 2013 at The New Theater at 45th Street, under the direction of Rachel Klein, Around the World in 80 Days is comedic play by Mark Brown based on the novel by Jules Verne.

Co-producer Cobi Narita says, "If you like tap, you've got a great chance to see many of the best dancers in the world, all in one night, at Flushing Town Hall on May 11. Tickets are selling fast to our 5th annual Queens Tap Extravaganza. We've got an Emmy winner, several Broadway stars, and a cover girl from Ebony magazine.
