Les Miserables has been delighting audiences in Toronto since it opened in October of last year, and a few of its cast members are now Broadway bound for the show's big debut in March. St. Thomas native Aaron Walpole is one of those Canucks headed to the Great White Way. Walpole has been with the new production of Les Miserables longer than most involved in the current production, as he actually joined the US tour before it came to Toronto and performed across Canada as well. He's an ensemble member as well as being the Valjean alternate, and in Toronto has been playing the role of Valjean every Thursday night. We sat down to talk to Aaron about what Les Miserables means to him, what it's like alternating roles and how he keeps his voice and body in shape to tackle the very demanding role of Jean Valjean:

Mari Kimura to Debut Eigenspace at Roulette, 10/9

On October 9, for one night only, Mari Kimura, inventor of Subharmonics for the violin, will perform four new works for violin, electronics and integrative graphics in the culminating event of the New York Electronic Art Festival (NYEAF) at Roulette Performance Space, 509 Atlantic Avenue, Brooklyn. Her concert is titled 'Eigenspace' after its centerpiece composition, a work of that name for Augmented Violin and Interactive Graphics composed by Kimura. It was commissioned by Harvestworks and features interactive graphics by Tomoyuki Kato, a noted Japanese visual artist and film director.

Out of 230 contestants and 15 finalists - more participants than in any previous year - seven outstanding singer-actors rose to the top to win prizes in the 2010 Lotte Lenya Competition, held on April 17 at the Eastman School of Music in Rochester.
