Sean Mathias Joins Creative Team of THE EXORCIST; Play Heading for Broadway?

BroadwayWorld has just learned that a stage version of The Exorcist is currently in the works, and Tony nominee Sean Mathias is on board to direct the project. The play, adapted by John Pielmeier, enjoyed a run at Los Angeles' Geffen Playhouse in 2012, starring Richard Chamberlain and Brooke Shields. Production details have not yet been announced.

Primary Stages just held their annual Gala last night, November 3, 2014 at 583 Park Avenue. The event celebrated the company's 30th anniversary and honor Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright Donald Margulies and award-winning producer, Julian Schlossberg. The Honorary Gala Co-Chairs are Brian d'Arcy James, Laura Linney, Elaine May, and Susan Stroman. The evening featured performances and tributes by Tony nominee Nick Cordero(performing from Bullets over Broadway), Charles Busch, Judy Gold, David Ives, the creators of In Transit, Tony winner Frank Langella, Elaine May, Tony winner Billy Porter, Marlo Thomas, Rachel York, and surprise guests. Snowdon has given 130 original prints of some of his most iconic photographs to the National Portrait Gallery, London, one of its largest gifts, it was announced today. Several of them will be shown at the gallery for the first time in an important display this autumn.

The Daily Mail writes that Iain Glen (Game of Thrones, Downton Abbey) will star with Richard McCabe in Ivan Turgenev's FORTUNE'S FOOL at the Old Vic, beginning December 6. The play, to be directed by Lucy Bailey, hasn't been seen on the London stage since it was written 150 years ago. Glen will play Kuzovkin, a poor man living in a Russian estate.
