Lincoln Center's acclaimed series American Songbook, which explores the best of the golden age of musical standards through to today's most dynamic songwriting, will bring to the stage some of today's most gifted interpreters of song. Week Two starts on January 26th with a tribute to arguably the greatest songwriting team in American Songbook history: the brothers George and Ira Gershwin. Conductor, arranger and pianist (as well as Artistic Director of the Gershwin centenary) Rob Fisher will lead Victoria Clark (Tony winner for Light in the Piazza) and Norm Lewis (Les Miserables, The Little Mermaid) in a night of gorgeous Gershwin. On January 27th singer/songwriter Shara Worden (from the group My Brightest Diamond) performs her unique blend of vocal music that has her pegged as a star to watch. Atlantic Records has announced the forthcoming release of 'FOR COLORED GIRLS: MUSIC FROM AND INSPIRED BY THE ORIGINAL MOTION PICTURE SOUNDTRACK,' the all-female musical companion to the upcoming Lionsgate drama. In Simon's comedy, two retired entertainers are made a lucrative offer to reform their vaudeville double-act for a television special. But the pair - now in their seventies - haven't spoken to one another since their acrimonious split.

Michael Riedel reports in today's New York Post that there's 'good buzz' coming out of a reading earlier this week of Neil Simon's The Sunshine Boys, produced by Roundabout, that starred Elliot Gould and Richard Benjamin and was directed by Lonny Price. Riedel says to look for the production this fall.

On Sunday, February 21, 2010, a silent auction will be held at 7:00 p.m. followed by an 8:00 p.m. benefit concert for the children of Haiti and their families at the Bergen Performing Arts Center (PAC) in Englewood, New Jersey. A live auction will be held during intermission. The event is being underwritten and organized by The Presbyterian Church at Tenafly and Temple Sinai of Bergen County and being sponsored by over twenty churches and synagogues throughout Bergen County.

Martha has directed several successful shows for the BACP over the years, the last of which was the highly acclaimed The Gin Game. She has chosen a phenomenal cast of BACP veterans and newcomers featuring Tom Berenson as Willie Clark and Brian Shoop as Al Lewis. The role of Ben Silverman, Willie?s nephew and agent, is played by Ron Friedberg. Rounding out the cast are Stephen Brown, Kelley Childers-Friedberg, Lori Jackson and Richard Perceful.
