"The Republican Party is in a sad state indeed. I’d go so far as to pronounce it dead. It’s the “MAGA” party now, completely detached from reality. A cult."

It is not dead yet, it will be after Nov 2024 with another Trump loss. What these MAGA idiots do not understand is the only reason Trump won in 2016 was that Hillary Clinton was even more unlikeable than Trump personally to many voters which is amazing.

Misogyny is to blame for that. I guess it’s also fair to say that in fact she was NOT less popular, considering she won the popular vote. Sad.

"Misogyny is to blame for that. I guess it’s also fair to say that in fact she was NOT less popular, considering she won the popular vote. Sad."

Really. To paraphrase Nancy Pelosi, there are places (NY, California) you could run a glass of water with a (D) next to it and win. Those two states gave Clinton over 5 million vote majority in the popular vote. Ask yourself, when was the last time a Republican candidate for POTUS came even remotely close to winning these states.

Misogyny to blame, give me a break. For example, Clinton never campaigned in Wisconsin with state being up for grabs, she would lose the state by 23,000 votes. Clinton called millions of people "deplorables", not exactly a way to gather votes for yourself.

None of those things would have mattered if Hillary had been a man. Misogyny is absolutely to blame, saying it is not is basically saying that misogyny does not exist. It is a hurdle that Trump never needed to face.
A woman needs to go that extra mile to even be considered a contender, and you are simply blaming her for not going that extra mile. Whereas any level of incompetence, mediocrity, or even corruption can be completely overlooked if the candidate is a man. Or white.

Really Jay. It is not going the extra mile to actually campaign in a swing state (Wisconsin), it is necessity. It does not take a genius to know it is wrong to label millions of people "deplorables". Hillary Clinton took well advantage of being married to Bill Clinton. You think she would have gotten to be carpetbagger US Senator from NY, Secretary of State and Democratic nominee for POTUS if she was Hillary Rodham? Don't even bother replying, I can already assume your response -lol. Please tell me the extra mile our current VP needed to be candidate/contender for POTUS and then become VP. Please tell me how Bush (43) level of incompetence was overlooked. Are you old enough to remember VP Spiro Agnew who resigned due to corruption charges? Do you really want me to start a list of white male politicians who either resigned or were forced from office.

It was definitely unwise, but it was quite obviously correct. Those who voted for Donald Trump are human garbage.

Actually, that's too generous. Just garbage.

If that is her belief that is fine but incredibly stupid politically.

Haley will pardon Dump, did she have to say that? "The country needs to heal." It's all so sad. I think that talk will invigorate the Biden vote.

Gerald Ford pardoned Nixon because he thought it was best for the country to move on with the nation's problems. Ford lost election but it was probably the right decision.

Yeah... but so what, that was half a century ago and should not set a precedent forevermore.

The important part is “what’s best for the country”, not what’s best for Nikki Haley’s campaign. The litany of crimes Trump committed and encouraged is on a different scale to anything Nixon was accused of.

Where did I say it should be a precedent forevermore? I mentioned it because a POTUS made a risky political decision because he thought it was the right thing to do for the country at that time. President Ford knew damn well this was going to cost him big time in the 1976 election, he stood for his principal belief over his career gain.

"The litany of crimes Trump committed and encouraged is on a different scale to anything Nixon was accused of."

The family of Richard Nixon would love to know that you think the Watergate break in and coverup was no big deal -lol. Just for the record, refresh my memory with the litany of Trump crimes.

I'd rather not.

He's brought democracy to the brink of complete destruction... isn't that enough for you?

There’s no need for a presumptive nominee thread, as there is already an election thread.

Ghosting me and treating me as if I do not exist is arguably bullying, but it happens here regularly. Sad.

I’m being bombarded with fundraising messages from Team Biden. How much do they think I can afford? Does it REALLY make much difference? Is this a bad sign?

Small donors are the bread and butter of any campaign because they can keep coming back without violating campaign finance laws. Donate once and you get bombarded. It doesn't reflect the state of the Biden Campaign.

Good, thank you, I’m glad. It’s already frightening that Trump is still doing so well... I guess I’m just worrying over small things due to paranoid pessimism. The norms of yesteryear are long  gone.

Please use your money for something else than the Biden campaign. Donate to a help fight cancer or help veterans. Maybe, give it to animal shelter. The media and big tech will help Joe Biden enough so IMO he does not need your hard earned dollars. I just laugh at all the money they will spend on campaign ads. If people in this country don't know Biden or Trump by now what rock have they been living under.

Biden is in trouble IMO only because each day more people tell pollsters they think he is not fit to be POTUS. IMO there is no need for you to worry, people will still vote for senile Joe Biden over the convicted felon Trump -lol.

I find it fascinating that the candidate labeled senile isn't the one who told people to drink bleach.. Trump makes Biden look like a spry rocket scientist.

So when Trump can't remember who he's running against is that being senile or stupid. He's both.
