Directed by David Esbjornson (The Goat, Or Who Is Sylvia?), Driving Miss Daisy began performances on October 7, 2010, at the John Golden Theatre (252 West 45th Street), and officially opened Monday, October 25, 2010. The 16-week limited engagement runs through Saturday, January 29, 2011.
On Monday, October 4, 2010, Tony Award winning actress and Grey's Anatomy star Sara Ramirez and Emmy award winning television personality and the evening's host Carson Kressley, were joined by a host of Broadway stars for an intimate evening to celebrate Broadway Takes the Runway - an evening of fashion and song. All proceeds from the night will benefit the Al D. Rodriguez Liver Foundation, which honors the close friend of Ramirez and Kressley, who was lost to liver cancer in 2008. Batt's autobiography, 'She Ain't Heavy, She's My Mother: A Memoir' was released on May 4, 2010 by Random House and is now available wherever books are sold in both online and retail outlets. Lin-Manuel Miranda, Tony & Grammy award-winning creator & composer of hit Broadway musical In The Heights hosted The Hispanic Federation's 20th Anniversary Gala as the organization honored five Latino trailblazers including Miranda's mentor and father Luis A. Miranda, founding president of the Hispanic Federation; Nina Garcia, the New York Times Best-Selling author and judge on hit show Project Runway, Angel Sánchez; world-renowned Latin American fashion designer; Mike Fernandez, Vice-President of State Farm Insurance; Willie Colon, internationally acclaimed recording artist and humanitarian. The night of celebration, held at the Waldorf Astoria, included a special performance by Willie Colon.
