BroadwayWorld has just learned that Secondhand Lions, featuring a book by Tony Award-winner Rupert Holmes and music and lyrics by First Date composers Michael Weiner and Alan Zachary, will get a New York City reading today and tomorrow, June 18-19. Presented by Warner Bros. Theatre Ventures, the musical, which played at Seattle's 5th Avenue Theatre in 2013, will be directed again by Scott Schwartz.

The reading will feature the talents of James Naughton, Tom Wopat, Sophia Anne Caruso, Jason Danieley, Arielle Jacobs, Julia Motyka, Paul Alexander Nolan, Christopher Paul Richards, Jenny Ashman, Wendy Bergamini, Brian Flores, Nehal Joshi, Raymond Lee, Robert Lenzi, Samantha Massell, William Ryall, Nora Schell, and J. Michael Zygo.

Harkening back to a simpler time, when a boy's imagination was all that was needed to turn a regular summer on a Texas farm into the adventure of a lifetime, Secondhand Lions follows the extraordinary tale of Walter, an eleven-year-old boy sent to live with his irascible great uncles on their Texas farm for the summer. While there, the tall tales they tell him, stories of hidden treasure and beguiling princesses, lead Walter on a magical odyssey.
