Signature Theatre presents the U.S. Premiere of And I and Silence by Naomi Wallace, directed by Caitlin McLeod. The production runs now through September 14, 2014. The show opened last night, August 25, in The Romulus Linney Courtyard Theatre at The Pershing Square Signature Center (480 West 42nd Street between 9th and 10th Avenues). The cast includes Trae Harris (Newlyweeds, "Orange Is the New Black") as Young Jamie,Rachel Nicks ("Nurse Jackie," Life Support) as Jamie, Emily Skeggs (Fun Home, Transport) as Young Dee, andSamantha Soule (A Fable, Detroit '67) as Dee.

Two imprisoned teenagers, one black, one white, form a perilous bond. As the young women serve time, they forge a plan for survival. When the outside world proves even more dangerous than the jail itself, their private world becomes an untenable practice ground for their new lives. And I and Silenceexplores the fierce dreams of youth and the brutal reality of adulthood in 1950's America.
