CABARET comes to the Franklin Theatre this Saturday at 7pm and Sunday at 5:00pm. Directed by Sondra Morton, CABARET features Musical Direction by Jamey Green and Choreography by Lauri Gregoire. BroadwayWorld has a first look at the cast in action below!

"What good is sitting alone in your room, come hear the music play!" This legendary, landmark musical turns Weimar Berlin of 1931 into a dark and charged haven of, decadence where its extraordinary and morally ambiguous inhabitants are determined to keep up appearances as the real world -- outside the comfortable sanctuary of the cabaret -- prepares for the nightmarish chaos of war.

Written for the times in 1966 Cabaret addressed the social issues that the United States was facing. Since its initial bow on Broadway it has resonated each decade since, either on the stages across the globe, on film and up to today's current revival on Broadway. While the players might have changed Cabaret explores are topics we are still discussing today including how we react to the changing world around us. The brilliance of Cabaret is how it presents these topics in a high level form of entertainment.

Based on the book "The Berlin Stories" of 1945 by Christopher Isherwood, who set the foundation for the subsequent renditions, from "I am a Camera" to the 1972 movie Cabaret to the Roundabout version at Studio 54.

As the 1920s are drawing to a close...the Master of Ceremonies welcomes the audience to the show and assures them that, whatever their troubles, they will forget them or their main attraction, Sally Bowles at the Cabaret. American writer, meets Ernst, a German who surprises Cliff by putting his briefcase among Cliff's luggage at the German border. Cabaret beautifully wraps it up in laughter in some of musical theatre's most entertaining memorable musical numbers "Cabaret", "Willkommen", and "Maybe this Time" to name a few.

This show is performed by teens with the Act Too Players and is Rated PG-13. Ticket prices range from $15 dollar tickets to $10 student tickets. Tickets may be purchased by calling the Franklin Theatre at 615.538.2076 or ordered online at www.franklintheatre.com/live-theater/.
