On Sunday night, Birdland was proud to launch a new summer series, "Jane Monheit''s Jazz Party," which will continue through September. The series provides Jane the opportunity to develop new material, and to collaborate with invited musical guests in a relaxed environment that is part concert, part jam session, part workshop and all fun. For the launch of the series, Jane welcomed composer Angelo DiLoreto, singers Marilyn Maye, Billy Stritch and Jim Caruso as her special guests.

Birdland was packed with artists from the jazz and Broadway communities, including Jessie Mueller, Santino Fontana, Frank Wildhorn, Paige Davis, Patrick Page, Lesli Margherita, Marcy Heisler, Zina Goldrich, Natalie Douglas, Adrienne Warren, Trevor McQueen, Jeffrey Pew, Kaitlyn Davidson, and Christina Bianco.

During the show, Gianni Valenti, the owner of Birdland, surprised Jane by unveiling a Seth Walters portrait, which will hang alongside the many jazz greats who have performed on the historic stage.

One of the premier vocalists in jazz today, Grammy nominated Jane Monheit is accompanied by her longtime trio featuring Michael Kanan (piano), Neal Miner (bass), and Rick Montalbano (drums).

"Jane Monheit''s Jazz Party" will take place at Birdland on Sundays at 6pm through September 28. Call 212-581-3080 or visit www.BirdlandJazz.com for reservations.
