BrightSide Theatre''s Artistic Director Jeffrey Cass stages the multi Tony and Olivier Award winning musical.

"In here...Life is Beautiful". Inside the Kit Kat Klub, Sally Bowles and the beguiling Emcee live in a sexy, laughter filled world of overindulgent vices of distraction, while outside, the gathering storm of Nazi oppression grows and threatens the already fragile lives and loves of those inside the club.

Director Jeffrey Cass explains "I find the time period of 1930''s Berlin so fascinatingly similar to today more than one might think. As we are drawn into the lives of these characters and their relationships we see glimpses our current society and how we choose to view each other by class, race, religion, political views and love."

Written for the times in 1966 Cabaret addressed the social issues that the United States was facing. Since its initial bow on Broadway it has resonated each decade since, either on the stages across the globe, on film and up to today''s current revival on Broadway. While the players might have changed Cabaret explores are topics we are still discussing today. including how we react to the changing world around us. This couldn't be ring more true as we are witness to political and social unrest in the Ukraine and Russia today. The brilliance of Cabaret is how it presents these topics in a high level form of entertainment. Cabaret beautifully wraps it up in laughter in some of musical theatre's most entertaining memorable musical numbers "Cabaret", "Willkommen", and "Maybe this Time" to name a few.

Due to the mature content of the show, children 12 and under will not be permitted in the theatre. Performances run at the Theatre at Meiley-Swallow Hall at North Central College, 31 S.
