The cast of the upcoming summer musical "Holler If Ya Hear Me" is currently in rehearsals and will begin previews on June 2nd. The musical will feature the music of Tupac Shakur, though it does not tell Tupac's story. It is a story of inner city dwellers and their daily struggles. Last Sunday night, the 2014 Lucille Lortel Awards for Outstanding Achievement Off-Broadway were held at NYU Skirball Center. "Here Lies Love," "Fun Home," based on Alison Bechtel's graphic novel, "Natasha, Pierre and the Great Comet of 1812," and "The Good Person of Szechwan" all took home multiple awards, while Will Eno's "The Open House" won for Outstanding Play. Robyn Goodman was honored with a lifetime achievement award, presented by Sarah Paulson. The original Broadway cast of "Avenue Q," which Goodman produced, reunited on stage to pay tribute to Goodman. Jason Robert Brown's "The Last Five Years," which has gained a huge fan base since its debut in 2001, will play at the Greenwich Theatre in London. The production will star Jon Robyns and Danielle Hope as Jamie and Cathy, a couple of New Yorkers who fall in and out of love in the course of the musical in two intersecting storylines, Jamie's being told chronologically and Cathy's in reverse. This year, Paper Mill Playhouse's Fundraising Event, Curtain Up on the 76th Season Gala, honored Tony Danza ("Hollywood in Vegas") and Linda Bowden (NJ Regional President with PNC Bank). Several Paper Mill Playhouse students gathered at the event for performances. Other performers included Jason Robert Brown, Rob McClure, and Tony Danza himself. For several months, Gerard Alessandrini and the company have been working on new material for "Forbidden Broadway" to mirror this upcoming Broadway season. Productions parodied in the latest show, "Forbidden Broadway Comes Out Swinging," include Hedwig, Rocky, Cabaret, The Sound of Music Live, The Bridges of Madison County, and many more. Nick Adams, Emma Hunton, and Gina Beck recently began performances in the first national tour of "Wicked" (Fiyero, Elphaba, and Glina respectively). Adams and Beck have both performed in this tour before as replacements for the parts they are performing regularly now. Click here to see more stills of the three new cast members!

Well-known for her acclaimed performances in musicals like "Wicked" and "You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown," as well as appearances in television on "Pushing Daisies" and "Glee," Kristin Chenoweth played to a sold out house at Carnegie Hall on May 3rd. Several guests made surprise appearances throughout the night, including Chenoweth's father, Jerry Chenoweth, who presented her with flowers on stage.? On May 2nd, the cast of the seven-time Tony-nominated "Beautiful: the Carole King Musical" signed CDs for fans at Lord & Taylor to celebrate the completion of Beautiful-themed windows at the flagship store. The New York City Centre's Encores! production of "Irma La Douce" opened on May 7th. Starring Jennifer Bowles, Rob McClure, and Malcolm Gets, this production is a revival of the 1956 French musical that tells the story of a Parisian prostitute and a poor law student who falls in love with her.
