On Monday, October 29, Jim Caruso's Cast Party, Birdland's 'extreme' open mic, was proud to present a new monthly segment called MENTOR MONDAYS, which pairs up-and-coming singers and composers with established artists to create a featured performance for the historic Birdland stage. For the premiere segment, producer Trevor McQueen paired composer Eric Dietz, a recent Carnegie Mellon University graduate with one of the current stars of Big Fish, Kirsten Scott. Scott premiered a new Dietz composition called "No Good," with Matt Aument at the piano. Scroll down for photos from the concert!

Eric Dietz is a Manhattan-based composer and lyricist currently writing All the Walls, a new musical. Selections of his music were most recently performed in the New York Musical Theatre Festival'sMint'd concert as well as workshops with Stephen Schwartz and Andrew Lippa. His musical Sweet Jesus! has had successful concert events in Pittsburgh and New York, culminating in a studio cast recording. Fable, a concert piece for symphony-orchestra, premiered in March 2013.

Kirsten Scott can currently be seen on Broadway as Jenny Hill in Big Fish. Other Broadway credits include Young Phyllis in the most recent Follies revival (cast album), and Hairspray. Off-Broadway/Regional credits include Follies (Kennedy Center/Ahmanson), Marvelous Wonderettes (Westside Theater), Grease (Sacramento Music Circus), Chaplin (La Jolla Playhouse), Minksy's (Ahmanson), Curtains (PCLO), and Thoroughly Modern Millie.

MENTOR MONDAYS is presented by Trevor McQueen, a recent graduate of Carnegie Mellon University. Trevor made his Broadway debut as Little Jake in the revival of Annie Get Your Gun with Bernadette Peters. Other credits include Prior in Angels in America (CMU), Fiddler on the Roof, Annie, and Sunset Boulevard with Liz Callaway (Pittsburgh CLO). He recently made his Birdland debut hosting Jazz Party, and has been consistently featured at Jazz at Andy's at the Fairmont Hotel in Pittsburgh, headlining with such jazz greats as legendary drummer Roger Humphries.

For the past ten years, Jim Caruso's Cast Party has been the spot for the Broadway, jazz and cabaret communities to celebrate each other with impromptu performances. Every Monday night at 9:30, Caruso, along with the Cast Party Symphony Orchestra, hosts a three-hour open mic/variety show at Birdland that has been called "musical come-what-mayhem!"
