Broadway favorite Kristin Chenoweth just played two consecutive performances at the Hollywood Bowl this week in LA. Accompanied by the Los Angeles Philharmonic, the evening's program also boasted conductor Kevin Stites and a cast featuring Jennifer Diamond, Constantine Germanacos and Johnny Stellard. Preview performances began on Saturday August 24, for the new Broadway production of Shakespeare's timeless love story ROMEO AND JULIET starring international film star Orlando Bloom, making his Broadway debut opposite two-time Tony Award nominee Condola Rashad. The play's opening night is set for Thursday, September 19, 2013 at the Richard Rodgers Theatre. Christopher Durang's new comedy, Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike, which won the 2013 Tony Award for Best Play, ended its extended premiere on Broadway at the Golden Theatre on August 25. Directed by Nicholas Martin, the production currently stars Julie White (who replaced original star Sigourney Weaver), David Hyde Pierce, Kristine Nielsen, Creed Garnick, Shalita Grant, and Liesel Allen Yeager. The new musical Lady Day about Billie Holiday, starring Tony and multiple Grammy Award-winner Dee Dee Bridgewater will soon open at the Little Shubert Theatre (422 West 42nd Street, between 9th and 10th Avenues) . The PETER AND THE STARCATCHER National Tour celebrated its official opening night at the Ellie Caulkins Opera House in Denver, CO. PETER AND THE STARCATCHER is the five-time Tony Award winning musical play written by Tony Award nominee Rick Elice and directed by Tony Awardwinner Roger Rees and Tony Award nominee Alex Timbers. Earlier this week, cast members from The Trip to Bountiful gathered at Tony Di Napoli's Restaurant to unveil the portrait for their co-star Cuba Gooding Jr. BroadwayWorld was there for the special event and you can check out complete photo coverage here!

Horton Foote's The Old Friends, directed by Michael Wilson runs now through October 6, 2013 with a September 12 opening night in The Irene Diamond Stage at The Pershing Square Signature Center (480 West 42nd Street between 9th and 10th Avenues). As BroadwayWorld announced earlier this week, two-time Tony Award winner Andrea Martin will depart Pippin following the Sunday, September 22nd performance to lead the cast of the new Global TV series "Working the Engels," which will film in Toronto. A replacement for the role of "Berthe" in PIPPIN will be announced soon. The show is currently playing at the Music Box Theatre (239 West 45th Street).
