Last night, National Dance Institute (NDI) honored actor Mandy Patinkin for his extraordinary commitment to the arts and culture of New York City, and NDI Board Member Robert D. Bernadette Peters presented the award and Tony-nominated actor Terrence Mann, who stars in the Broadway revival of Pippin opening April 25th, emceed the event. Additional guests included: Jacques d'Amboise and Michael Cerveris.
The Annual Gala is National Dance Institute's largest fundraising event, with all proceeds going to support NDI's award-winning arts education programs for New York City public school children focused in under-resourced neighborhoods. NDI's exuberant dance and music programs reach over 5,000 children each week in 35 New York City public schools. This year, NDI is immersing students in an enriching exploration of the music, art, history and culture of New Orleans. "NDI Celebrates The Big Easy" will be an unforgettable evening filled with the festive sounds and flavors of Mardis Gras...NDI-style! NDI, the non-profit organization that has transformed the lives of millions of public school children through the arts, was founded by the legendary New York City Ballet principal dancer Jacques d'Amboise in the belief that the arts have a unique power to engage children and motivate them toward excellence.
