Broadway and Smash star Jeremy Jordan stopped by East Rockaway High School to help the students put the final touches on their performance and scenery before their first performance on their new stage.
The school, which was severely damaged during Hurricane Sandy, has received funding and supplies from Lowe's to repair its high school auditorium. Earlier in February, Lowe's employee volunteers and volunteers from the national nonprofit Rebuilding Together worked alongside East Rockaway students to complete the theater makeover.
Through "NBC's 'Smash': Make a Musical constructed by Lowe's" the school received funding and help from skilled volunteers to rebuild their stage. Jordan visited the school and encouraged the students as they performed for the first time on their rebuilt stage. The whole process was captured and will air in three separate 30-second spots during season two of "Smash," the first of which you can see here.
