Earlier this week, star of the original movie version of Newsies, Bill Pullman, attended a performance of the Tony Award winning new American musical, and visited with the cast backstage afterwards. Manhattan Concert Productions just presented a special concert performance of Ragtime at Avery Fisher Hall on Monday, February 18, 2013. The cast included: Michael Arden as Younger Brother, Phillip Boykin as Booker T. Washington, Kerry Butler as Evelyn Nesbit, Matt Cavenaugh as Henry Ford, Tyne Dalyas Emma Goldman, Jarrod Emick as Willie Conklin, Manoel Felciano as Tateh, Dick Latessa as Grandfather,Norm Lewis as Coalhouse Walker Jr., Jose Llana as Harry Houdini, Michael McCormick as J.P. Earlier this week, Cinderella stars Ann Harada and Marla Mindelle unveiled the Cindrella Sundae at Serendipity3 (225 East 60th St). The treat is a life-sized "glass slipper" made of glittering white chocolate filled with 3 wickedly big scoops of ice cream covered in chocolate and caramel sauce for dreamers and ice creamers of all ages. It's topped off with a delightfully romantic cloud of whipped cream and beautifully colored rock candy that is the finest in all of the kingdom, candy pearls and a life-sized tiara and a Cinderella Mirror Compact complete the royal treatment for the sundae based on the musical that's impossible to resist. MCC Theater presents the New York premiere production of Paul Downs Colaizzo's Really Really, directed by David Cromer (the Obie Award and Lucille Lortel Award-winning director of hits Our Town, Adding Machine and Tribes). The production, which marks Colaizzo's New York playwriting debut, plays at the Lucille Lortel Theatre (121 Christopher Street, NYC) through March 10, 2013. The New York Philharmonic will present Rodgers & Hammerstein's Carousel, February 27-March 2, 2013. As previously announced, the production will star Kelli O'Hara as Julie Jordan, Nathan Gunn as Billy Bigelow, Stephanie Blythe as Nettie Fowler, Shuler Hensley as Jigger Craigin, Jason Danieley as Enoch Snow, Jessie Mueller as Carrie Pipperidge, Kate Burton as Mrs. Mullin, and John Cullum as Fisher. Jesse Eisenberg and Vanessa Redgrave star in the world premiere of Eisenberg's The Revisionist, directed by Kip Fagan, which just opened February 21 at the Cherry Lane Theatre, 38 Commerce Street. Ann, a new play written and performed by Emmy Award-winning actress Holland Taylor, began previews on Broadway at Lincoln Center's Vivian Beaumont Theater (150 West 65 Street) on Monday, February 18 and will open Thursday, March 7, 2013.There was a 'Bosom Buddies' reunion backstage at Ann- Tom Hanks and Peter Scolari came to see Holland Taylor and Bob Boyett. Ryan Silverman as Giorgio, joins acclaimed, award-winning actresses Judy Kuhn (as Fosca) and Melissa Errico (as Clara), in Classic Stage Company's new production of Stephen Sondheim and James Lapine's Tony Award-winning musical, directed by John Doyle (director of the acclaimed Broadway revivals of Sondheim's Sweeney Todd and Company). Passion is currently in previews at CSC (136 East 13th Street), with an official press opening scheduled for Thursday, February 28. Click here for more production shots!
