Add 26 orphans, 58 assorted adults and teens, and 3 dogs together and you get …. two casts for ANNIE the Musical! ANNIE plays Nov. 30 thru Dec. 16 at DreamWrights Youth & Family Theatre. Get a first look at the show in the photos below!

This show’s track record is fantastic. It was first produced on Broadway in 1977 and ran 6 years for 2,377 performances, making it the 11th longest running NYC show. The second revival was in 1997, and the third opened Nov. 8th, 2012! It is estimated that ANNIE is produced between 700-900 times a year in the United Sates alone, and has been seen by 50 million people.

The source material for this much loved musical goes way back to the 1885 poem 'Little Orphan Annie' by James Whitcomb Riley. In 1924, Harold Gray began his comic strip, which is still running today. By the 1930s, he began publishing a series of books, and the first of many Annie movies were made.

DreamWrights is delighted to bring ANNIE to York for Christmas. There are two casts of 42 each - we have two of every character - and three dogs! Daddy Warbucks is being played by Bill Jones 61, of Yoe, and Jeff Wilt 44, of Mt. Wolf. Playing Grace Ferrell, who heads up Warbucks’ staff, is Renee Mathis 62, and Paige Hoke 23, both of York. The part of Orphan Annie is being portrayed by two 12 year olds, Leah Jameson of York and Hannah Langmead of Seven Valleys. The remaining 39 ensemble members portray approximately 67 other characters, including FDR.

Our canine cast members are played by Katie Ann and Bailey, both of York, in the role of Sandy. In addition, there will be a special guest appearance by a current resident of the SPCA. DreamWrights and the SPCA are partnering for the second time on this production and are hoping that this pup will find a forever home, as did the last!
