In May, 2010 Sally Lambert brought her new play, "GRAPEFRUIT", to Cheryl King, owner, artistic director and managing director of Stage Left Studio. Miss King scheduled its production immediately. "GRAPEFRUIT" was a universal "find" written in the form of a laugh-out-loud comedy. COMEDY! On July 25, two months before the first public performance, Sally Lambert passed away, seemingly ending the opportunity for hundreds of theatergoers to attend her autobiographical earthquake of revelation and wisdom for the ages. The production was respectfully cancelled. But the play refused to be retired. An acclaimed actress in her own right, Cheryl King sent the play to the much sought after director, Theresa Gambacorta, who cleared her calendar.

"GRAPEFRUIT" is an earthquake of a play. Written by a woman who was born a musician, became a playwright and died a prophetess, leaving behind what might be considered the secret of the universe. Sally Lambert was born in Southern Kentucky where she started singing at three years old and reading music not that many years later. Surrounding herself with the work of people with names such as Leontyne, Callas, Pavarotti, Verdi, Strauss, Shostakovich, Mozart and Mahler, she began plotting her escape to New York where she met her man, fell in love with his brother, was diagnosed with cancer, told she must wait until her health insurance kicked in before she could be treated, waited for that to happen, was then informed it was too late to be saved, wrote this play about the experience of being alive on this earth and then succumbed to the cancer. "GRAPEFRUIT" is an almost other worldly third-eye assessment of the human condition which, if listened to closely, could improve one's journey through life.
