Photo Flash: First Look at FIDDLER ON THE ROOF at SCERA Shell Outdoor Theatre

Veteran director Jerry Elison loves the musical, "Fiddler on the Roof," and when it plays Aug. 3-18 at the SCERA Shell Outdoor Theatre, it will mark his fifth time directing the musical theatre masterpiece of a dairy farmer living a humble life in 1905 Tsarist Russia, struggling to preserve his beloved traditions when his five willful daughters have hearts and minds of their own. Get a first look at the production in the photos below!It will also mark the fourth time he has cast Neal Barth in the lead role of Tevye and says he would always use Barth because "Neal really understands the role and what living in a poor Jewish village prior to the Russian Revolution would have been like."Strengthening the story is music that has become classic: "Tradition," "If I Were a Rich Man," "Matchmaker, Matchmaker" and "Sunrise, Sunset," among others. Rich in historical and ethnic detail, "Fiddler on the Roof" is a drama filled with everything musical theatre should be – joy, sadness, humor, warmth and music loved the world over.
Among the major characters besides Barth are Agnes Broberg as Teyve's wife Golde, DeLayne Dayton as matchmaker Yente, Hannah Herring as Tzeitel, Katie Abbott as Hodel and Emily Erdmann as Chava, and their suitors are Daniel Tomlinson as Motel, Andrew Cook as Perchik, and Andrew Olson as Fyedka. Other parts include Ed Eyestone as the rabbi, Rob Holcombe as Lazar Wolf, Howard Fullmer as the constable and Sheldon Boone as Fruma Sarah.
