Last night, the Paley Center celebrated Oscar, Emmy, and Tony Award–winner Christopher Plummer's television work (including Hamlet at Elsinore, Little Moon of Alban, and The Thorn Birds). Plummer appeard at the event, moderated by David Edelstein (Film Critic, New York Magazine and CBS Sunday Morning). Best known for playing Captain Von Trapp alongside Julie Andrews in the film version of The Sound of Music, Christopher Plummer has is a 7-time Tony nominee. He has appeared on Broadway in such productions as The Starcross Story, Home is the Hero, The Dark is Light Enough (Theatre World Award), The Lark, The Auk, J.B. (Tony nominee), Arturo Ui, The RoyAl Hunt of the Sun, Cyrano (Tony and Drama Desk Awards), The Good Doctor, Othello (Tony nominee, Drama Desk Award), Macbeth, No Man's Land (Tony and Drama Desk nominee), Barrymore (Tony and Drama Desk Awards), King Lear (Tony and Drama Desk nominee), and Inherit the Wind (Tony and Drama Desk nominee). He has played most of the great roles in classic repertoire.

Plummer returned to the stage at The Stratford Festival of Canada in August 2008 in a critically acclaimed performance as Julius Caesar in George Bernard Shaw's "Caesar and Cleopatra" directed by Tony winner Des McAnuff (of Jersey Boys fame).
