Cast of APOCALYPTOUR
Following the amazing success of The SPACE Tour, internet sensation Team StarKid is currently on a second national tour: APOCALYPTOUR, featuring a cast of StarKid veterans performing hits from the company's acclaimed original comedy musicals A Very Potter Musical, A Very Potter Sequel, Me and My Dick, and Starship, as well as their latest parody show Holy Musical B@man!. Megan Hilty and Rachel York starred in the Encores! production of Gentlemen Prefer Blondes, which opened on May 9 at New York City Center. Gentlemen Prefer Blondes was directed by John Rando with music direction by Rob Berman and choreography by Randy Skinner and played for seven performances, May 9 – 13, at New York City Center. The 2012 Drama Critics Circle Awards were presented at a cocktail reception on May 14, at Angus McIndoe Restaurant. Sons of the Prophet, written by Stephen Karam, won the New York Drama Critics' Circle Award (NYDCC) for Best Play of the 2011-2012 season. The award for Best Foreign Play went to Tribes, written by Nina Raine. Once received the award for Best Musical. Click here for more photos from the ceremony!

The Town Hall’s critically acclaimed Broadway by the Year's® 12th Season continued this week with The Broadway Musicals of 1975 on May 14th. 1975 was a year that brought us famous shows by musical theater icons including Marvin Hamlisch, (A Chorus Line), John Kander and Fred Ebb (Chicago), and Richard O’Brien (The Rocky Horror Show), among others. Produced by The Town Hall, The Broadway Musicals of 1975 was created, written and hosted by Scott Siegel. Click here for more photos from the concert!

Arena Stage at the Mead Center for American Theater produces the 2011 Tony Award-winning production of Larry Kramer’s The Normal Heart, directed by George C. Wolfe. Wolfe, who directed the show’s sold-out Broadway engagement last season, mounts the professional D.C.-area premiere of this production, which features returning Broadway cast members Patrick Breen and Luke MacFarlane, among others. Colm Wilkinson, who originated the role of Jean Valjean in both the original London and Broadway productions of LES MISERABLES, will make a special appearance in the upcoming LES MIS film as the merciful Bishop. Check out a new picture of Wilkinson in his Bishop garb opposite Hugh Jackman, Jean Valjean in the film.

Signature Theatre presents the US premiere of TITLE AND DEED, a new play by Will Eno and directed by Judy Hegarty Lovett. The production, starring Conor Lovett, will run through June 17, 2012 with a May 20 opening night in The Alice Griffin Jewel Box Theatre at the Company’s new home The Pershing Square Signature Center (480 West 42nd Street between 9th and 10th Avenues). Thea Sharrock’s production of SUNSHINE BOYS continues at the Savoy Theatre for a strictly limited run until 28 July 2012, having opened last night, May 17. Starring are Danny DeVito and Richard Griffiths as the ageing vaudevillian team Willie Clark and Al Lewis. Click here for more photos for opening night.
