At this year's Inner Circle Dinner, Mayor Michael Bloomberg performed in a special show with the cast of Broadway's HOW TO SUCCEED IN BUSINESS WITHOUT REALLY TRYING on Saturday night, March 31. Bloomberg's appearance at the event marked his tenth year at the annual event, which raises money for a number of causes including the Coalition for the Homeless, the Museum of the City of New York and the American Heart Association. Gore Vidal's THE BEST MAN opened Sunday, April 1st, 2012 at the Gerald Schoenfeld Theatre. The strictly limited 18 week engagement is directed by Drama Desk Award winner Michael Wilson . Gore Vidal's THE BEST MAN comes to Broadway in an all-star theatrical event with James Earl Jones, John Larroquette, Candice Bergen, Eric McCormack, Kerry Butler, Jefferson Mays, Michael McKean and Angela Lansbury. A long-standing opening night tradition on the Great White Way, the fabled Gypsy Robe is bestowed upon a veteran Broadway chorus member for each opening production. In what has now become a theatrical ritual, originating on Broadway 60 years ago, the latest receipient was NEWSIES cast member Aaron J. Albano at the Nederlander Theatre in New York City. END OF THE RAINBOW made its Broadway premiere on April 2, at the Belasco Theatre. Two-time Oliver Award-winner Tracie Bennett shines in Peter Quilter's acclaimed play about the legendary Judy Garland, directed by the Tony® Award winning Terry Johnson. ROCK OF AGES, currently playing the Helen Hayes Theatre, celebrated its third Broadway birthday on April 3, 2012. The music that ignited a generation is heating up Broadway in ROCK OF AGES. The classic rock love story of the decade erupts into Broadway’s Best Party, all to the sounds of such feel-good, sing-out-loud songs as Every Rose Has Its Thorn, I Wanna Know What Love Is, Here I Go Again, Don’t Stop Believin’ and more. On April 3, Academy Award and Emmy Award nominee Jeff Goldblum (The Pillowman, Jurassic Park, Independence Day, “Law & Order: Criminal Intent”), Justin Long (He’s Just Not That Into You, The Break Up, Live Free or Die Hard, Dodgeball, “Ed”), and Zoe Lister-Jones (The Little Dog Laughed, The Marriage of Bette and Boo) took their official opening night bows in SEMINAR, by Pulitzer Prize finalist and Peabody Award winner Theresa Rebeck (Mauritius, Omnium Gatherum, “NYBD Blue,” “Smash”). As announced last week, on Tuesday, April 17, 2012, the company of Broadway's first-ever revival of Stephen Schwartz's legendary rock musical GODSPELL welcomes a new leading man -- stage and screen star Corbin Bleu (Disney's "High School Musical," Broadway's In the Heights) -- to the starring role of Jesus. Roundabout Theatre Company, in association with Damian Arnold, will present the Broadway premiere of Marc Camoletti’s classic farce Don’t Dress For Dinner, starring Ben Daniels as “Robert,” Adam James as “Bernard,” Patricia Kalember as “Jacqueline” and Jennifer Tilly as “Suzanne” with Spencer Kayden as “Suzette” and David Aron Damane as “George.” Don’t Dress For Dinner, in previews now, is adapted by Robin Hawdon and directed by John Tillinger. EVITA opened last night, April 5, at the Marquis Theatre! The company of Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber's landmark musical is led by Ricky Martin as Che, Elena Roger in her Broadway debut as Eva Perón and Michael Cerveris as Juan Perón, along with Max von Essen as Migaldi and Rachel Potter as the Mistress.
