On March 13, The Acting Company of New York presented the special event PATTI'S TURN!, a tribute to Patti LuPone, at the Kaye Playhouse. The all-star event saluted the career of one of Broadway's finest actresses and musical theater performers as evidenced by her two Tony Awards and legions of fans. There for the event were Kristin Chenoweth, Sutton Foster, Harvey Fierstein, Zoe Caldwell, Laura Benanti, Boyd Gaines, Michael Urie, ad more! Click here for full coverage of the event!

Previews for EVITA began earlier this week at the Marquis Theatre on Broadway in anticipation of the April 5, 2012 opening. The company of Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber's landmark musical EVITA is led by world renowned music artist Ricky Martin as Che, Olivier Award-winning Argentinean actress Elena Roger in her Broadway debut as Eva Perón and Tony Award-winner Michael Cerveris as Juan Perón. On March 12th, 2012 Roundabout celebrated Rob Marshall, with the 2012 Spring Gala: From Screen to Stage. Rob Marshall began his career with Roundabout working on celebrated musicals such as She Loves Me, Company, Little Me and the Tony Award®-winning Cabaret. Marshall was joined by stars from stage & screen for a special evening created by his Tony Award winning sister Kathleen Marshall with Musical Direction and Arrangements by David Krane at the Hammerstein Ballroom (311 West 34th Street, NYC). Ford's Theatre Society just opened the Tony-winning musical 1776, directed by Peter Flynn, on March 9. The production runs through May 19, 2012. With "quick-witted dialogue and a playful score," 1776 dramatizes the impassioned debates of Philadelphia's Second Continental Congress and the writing of the Declaration of Independence. The production features Brooks Ashmanskas as John Adams, Christopher Bloch as Benjamin Franklin, Robert Cuccioli as John Dickinson, William Diggle as Thomas Jefferson and Floyd King as Stephen Hopkins. Last night, March 14, the casts of GODSPELL and WICKED gathered outside the Gershwin Theatre to wish Stephen Schwartz a happy birthday, which he celebrated last week. On hand for the festivities were Hunter Parrish (GODSPELL), Wallace Smith (GODSPELL), Lindsay Mendez (GODSPELL), Jackie Burns (WICKED), Richard H. Blake (WICKED) and more. The limited engagement of Manhattan Theatre Club's THE COLUMNIST begins performances on Wednesday, April 4 and opens Wednesday, April 25 at MTC’s Samuel J. Friedman Theatre. The company is led by Tony & Emmy Award Winner John Lithgow (“Dexter”, Dirty Rotten Scoundrels), Drama Desk Award nominee Margaret Colin (“Gossip Girl,” MTC’s Defiance) and four time Tony Award winner Boyd Gaines (Gypsy, Contact). Next week on SMASH, Everything comes to a head as Eileen (Anjelica Huston), Derek (Jack Davenport) and the team present "Marilyn The Musical" to would-be investors. Ivy (Megan Hilty) is under pressure to perform, while her mother, Broadway star Leigh Conroy (special guestBernadette Peters), undermines her at every turn. Karen (Katharine McPhee) must decide between the workshop and a meeting with a big-time music producer. Hockadoo! The 2010 Tony Award winning Best Musical MEMPHIS just celebrated 1,000 performances on Broadway on yesterday, March 14th at the 2pm matinee performance. MEMPHIS takes place in the smoky halls and underground clubs of the segregated 50’s, where a young white DJ named Huey Calhoun (Adam Pascal) fell in love with everything he shouldn’t: rock and roll and an electrifying black singer (Montego Glover). Two-time Tony Award-winner Matthew Broderick and three-time Tony Award nominee Kelli O'Hara star in NICE WORK IF YOU CAN GET IT, featuring music and lyrics by George Gershwin and Ira Gershwin. The production will begin performances on Broadway on Thursday, March 29, 2012 and officially open on Tuesday, April 24, 2012 at the Imperial Theatre. The show is directed & choreographed by three-time Tony Award-winner Kathleen Marshall and features a book by two-time Tony Award-winner Joe DiPietro. Roundabout Theatre Company in association with Damian Arnold, will present the Broadway premiere of Marc Camoletti’s classic farce Don’t Dress For Dinner, starring Ben Daniels as “Robert,” Patricia Kalember as “Jacqueline,” Adam James as “Bernard,” David Aron Damane as “George” and Jennifer Tilly as “Suzanne” with Spencer Kayden as “Suzette.” Don’t Dress For Dinner is adapted by Robin Hawdon and directed by John Tillinger. The Broadway production of Arthur Miller's DEATH OF A SALESMAN opened officially last night, March 15, at the Ethel Barrymore Theatre on Broadway. Arthur Miller’s Tony Award and Pulitzer Prize-winning DEATH OF A SALESMAN, is directed by eight-time Tony Award® winner Mike Nichols and stars Academy Award® winner Philip Seymour Hoffman as Willy Loman, Obie Award winner Linda Emond as Linda Loman and Andrew Garfield(The Social Network, The Amazing Spider-Man), making his Broadway debut as Biff Loman.
