Up next at The Edge Theater Company is the highly anticipated Regional Premiere of Adam Bock’s A Small Fire playing now through April 15th. This is the first time this play has been produced outside of New York. Emily Bridges is the leading breadwinner, more at home wearing a hard hat on a construction site than an apron in the kitchen. She runs her own company, talking trash with the guys and talking tough with misbehaving employees. Emily has little patience for the flaws and foibles of those around her and would rather get back to work than work through emotional conflicts on the couch.

John Bridges is her temperamental opposite, a natural nurturer who is less invested in his job and caters to his wife’s needs. He’s the one making the coffee when they come home at night — she demands an extra splash of Baileys in hers — and trying to make peace between Emily and their soon-to-be-married daughter, Jenny, who has long resented her mother’s drinking and casual approach to caregiving. When Emily finds her senses slipping on the brink of her daughter's wedding, the impact on her family is nothing less than seismic.

Directed by Robert Kramer, the cast includes Kirsten Brant*, Paul Page, Haley Johnson, and Christian Mast.

Adam Bock won a 2006 Obie award for his play The Thugs. During the 2007-2008 New York theatrical season, two plays by Bock were produced Off Broadway: The Receptionist at Manhattan Theatre Club and The Drunken City, originally commissioned by the Kitchen Theatre Company in Ithaca, New York, through Playwrights Horizons. Bock has been nominated for two 2007-2008 Outer Critics Circle Awards. Both The Receptionist and The Drunken City were nominated for Outstanding Off-Broadway Play.
