Broadway’s Robert Creighton, Lindsay Mendez and Betsy Wolfe, along with Tony nominee Adam Pascal, Heidi Blickenstaff, Julia Murney, Rock ‘n’ Roll Hall of Fame legend Darlene Love, and Seth Rudetsky took to the stage at Birdland on Monday night, February 27, for the Second Annual Broadway Belts for Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation Benefit. Hosted by Julie Halston Broadway Belts for Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation! was directed by Carl Andress, with music direction by Jesse Kissel. Sirius Satellite Radio host Seth Rudetsky conducted his seminar on the art of Broadway belting. Click here for more photos from the star-studded event.

Off-Broadway’s The New Group honored David Rabe and Nancy Manocherian with the Michael Mendelson Award for Outstanding Commitment to Theater at its 2012 Gala, hosted by Janeane Garofalo & Morgan Spector on February 27. The evening offered cocktails, dinner, entertainment and silent & live auctions, along with performances by Alan Cumming, Veanne Cox, Jay Rogers, Penny Fuller, Leslie Uggams and Jeremiah James. Broadway Remembers Whitney, a benefit concert honoring one of the greatest icons and voices of our generation was held on Monday night, February 27th at Joe’s Pub. Whitney Houston's iconic ballads and dance hits never missed a beat and she has remained an undeniable force and source of inspiration for so many in the theatre community and beyond. Headline talent included Derrick Baskin, Chester Gregory, Morgan James, Jay Armstrong, Caissie Levy and many more! Click here for more photos from the concert!

A Streetcar Named Desire starring Blair Underwood as Stanley, Nicole Ari Parker as Blanche, Daphne Rubin-Vega as Stella and Wood Harris as Mitch, begins its limited Broadway run at the Broadhurst Theatre on Tuesday, April 3, 2012, and celebrates its opening Sunday, April 22, 2012. The production will run through July 22, 2012. Earlier this week the company met the press, and you can check out more photos here.


The Cast of EVITA

The complete cast of the new Broadway production of EVITA posed after the company's final run-through at the rehearsal studio late last week! Previews begin in just under two weeks, on March 12, 2012 at the Marquis Theatre on Broadway in anticipation of an April 5, 2012 opening. Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber's landmark musical EVITA opens April 5, 2012 at the Marquis Theatre. The company of EVITA is led by world renowned music artist Ricky Martin as Che, Olivier Award-winning Argentinean actress Elena Roger in her Broadway debut as Eva Perón and Tony Award-winner Michael Cerveris as Juan Perón.

Paper Mill Playhouse is currently in rehearsals for Damn Yankees, directed by Paper Mill Playhouse's Producing Artistic Director, Mark S. Hoebee, with choreography by Denis Jones. The cast features Howard McGillin, Chryssie Whitehead, Christopher Charles Wood, Joseph Kolinski, Patti Cohenour and Nancy Anderson. Damn Yankees begins performances on Wednesday, March 7, 2012, and runs at the Millburn, New Jersey theater through Sunday, April 1, 2012. After years of development, Clyde 'n Bonnie: A Folktale is set to premiere in suburban Atlanta at Aurora Theatre on March 15, 2012. Aurora Theatre first encountered the show in 2009 at the prestigious New York Musical Theatre Festival, the annual showcase of potential Broadway hits, like the TonyTM Award and Pulitzer Prize winning Next to Normal. Clyde ‘n Bonnie is the musical brainchild of Broadway stars Hunter Foster and Rick Crom, and so has attracted world-class talent throughout its development. For more publicity shots, click here.


William Shatner

William Shatner, currently starring on Broadway in SHATNER’S WORLD: WE JUST LIVE IN IT, has been given his own Sardi's caricature. Check out the photo of the star with his caricature below!SHATNER’S WORLD: WE JUST LIVE IN IT plays at Broadway’s Music Box Theatre (239 West 45th Street) through March 4. The production began performances on Tuesday, February 14, opened Thursday, February 16. National tour dates begin in Los Angeles on Saturday, March 10.


Imelda Staunton, Michael Ball

Following sell-out success at Chichester Festival Theatre, Jonathan Kent's acclaimed production of Sweeney Todd transfers to London's West End for a limited season from 10 March 2012. Widely acknowledged as Stephen Sondheim's musical masterpiece, Sweeney Todd stars distinguished musical performer Michael Ball as the eponymous demon barber of Fleet Street and Oscar-nominated actress Imelda Staunton as the devoted Mrs Lovett. The cast is in the recording studio with Stephen Sondheim, and you can check out more photos here.

The newly reworked and fully re-imagined production of Carrie, the musical, had its first preview on January 31, 2012 at the Lucille Lortel Theatre and officially opened last night, March 1, 2012.nBased on Stephen King's bestselling novel, the musical of Carrie hasn't been seen since its legendary 1988 Broadway production. Now, the show's original authors have joined with director Stafford Arima (Altar Boyz) and MCC Theater for a newly reworked and fully re-imagined vision of this gripping tale.
