The Guthrie Theater just completed a four-week run of Obie Award-winning playwright Adam Rapp's The Edge of Our Bodies, an intimate and intriguing story of Bernadette, a young woman at the threshold of adulthood on a harrowing journey in search of experience. This marks the first time that a production of Rapp's work was performed at the Guthrie Theater. The Guthrie's production featured Minnesota native and recent New York transplant Ali Rose Dachis who wowed audiences last year with her turn as Lauren in the Guthrie's Circle Mirror Transformation. Dachis is a 2009 graduate of the University of Minnesota/Guthrie Theater B.F.A. Actor Training Program. Guthrie Associate Director of Studio Programming Benjamin McGovern directed this powerful and insightful story. Rapp recently stopped by the production, and you can check out a photo below!

Rapp is one of America's most prolific young authors whose credits include HBO's "In Treatment," the film Winter Passing, and productions at Playwrights Horizons, New York Theatre Workshop and Steppenwolf Theatre. This shockingly articulate piece was praised by The New York Times for its "striking imagery" and "elegant prose."

The artistic team included Michael Hoover (Set Designer), Christine A. Richardson (Costume Designer), Ryan Connealy (Lighting Designer), C. Andrew Mayer (Sound Designer), Lucinda Holshue (Vocal Consultant), Tree O'Halloran (Stage Manager), Sarah Howell (Production Assistant) and Cristina Castro (Assistant Director).

Adam Rapp is an Obie Award-winning playwright and director. He is the author of numerous plays, which include The Hallway Trilogy (Rattlestick), Nocturne (A.R.T.; New York Theatre Workshop), Faster (Rattlestick), Finer Noble Gases (26th Humana Festival; Rattlestick), Stone Cold Dead Serious (A.R.T., Edge Theatre), Blackbird (The Bush; Edge Theatre), Essential Self-Defense (Playwrights Horizons), American Sligo (Rattlestick), Kindness (Playwrights Horizons), and Red Light Winter (Steppenwolf; Barrow Street Theatre), which was named a finalist for the Pulitzer Prize. He recently directed the world premiere of his play, The Metal Children, which starred Billy Crudup, at The Vineyard Theatre. His playwriting honors include The Helen Merrill Award, The 2006 Princess Grace Statue, and The Benjamin H. Danks Award from the American Academy of Arts and Letters.

The GUTHRIE THEATER (Joe Dowling, Director) was founded by Sir Tyrone Guthrie in 1963 and is an American center for theater performance, production, education and professional training. The Tony Award-winning Guthrie Theater is dedicated to producing the great works of dramatic literature, developing the work of contemporary playwrights and cultivating the next generation of theater artists. With annual attendance of nearly 500,000 people, the Guthrie Theater presents a mix of classic plays and contemporary work on its three stages. Under the artistic leadership of Joe Dowling since 1995, the Guthrie continues to set a national standard for excellence in theatrical production and performance. In 2006, the Guthrie opened its new home on the banks of the Mississippi River in Minneapolis. Designed by Pritzker Prize-winning architect Jean Nouvel, the Guthrie Theater houses three state-of-the-art stages, production facilities, classrooms and dramatic public lobbies. www.guthrietheater.org.
