Roundabout Theatre Company is presenting three-time Tony Award® winner Frank Langella as "Gregor Antonescu" in Terence Rattigan's drama Man and Boy, directed by Maria Aitken. Man and Boy began previews on September 9th and opened officially October 9th, 2011 at the American Airlines Theatre on Broadway. This is a limited engagement through November 27, 2011. Beginning this week, Andy Karl and Quinn Van Antwerp joined the Broadway cast of Jersey Boys. Karl (Legally Blonde, Wicked) steps in the role of Tommy DeVito; Dominic Nolfi departed on September 25th. Direct from the national tour of JERSEY BOYS, VanAntwerp steps in the role of Bob Gaudio; Ryan Jesse departed October 9. Erik Bates played the role of Tommy DeVito for performances September 27 through October 9. Click here for more photos of the duo in action.

Vineyard Theatre opened the world-premiere production of Nicky Silver's play THE LYONS, starring Linda Lavin and Dick Latessa on October 11. The production, which was originally scheduled to run through October 30 has been extended through through November 11 due to popular demand. For full coverage of the big opening, click here.


New York City Center Renovations

New York City Center will reopen following a historic renovation and modernization with a ribbon-cutting ceremony and star-studded gala on Tuesday, October 25 at New York City Center. Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg will conduct The Encores! Orchestra in the opening number (as a nod to Mayor Fiorello LaGuardia, who conducted the New York Philharmonic when City Center opened as a performing arts center in 1943). On October 11, Broadway's Tony Award-winning hit musical CHICAGO and Givenik.com presented a special performance and post-show reception to benefit the four favorite charities of current leading-lady Kara DioGuardi. A portion of sales from all tickets sold for the October 11 benefit performance will be donated to the charity of the purchasers choice. Click here for more photos from the event!

Direct from the North American tour of MARY POPPINS, Steffanie Leigh made her Broadway debut in the title role on October 11 at the New Amsterdam Theatre. Olivier Award winner Laura Michelle Kelly, The West End's original MARY POPPINS, played her final performance on Broadway Sunday, October 9. Click here for more photos from her big debut!

Trevor Nunn's production of James Goldman's The Lion in Winter, produced by the Theatre Royal Haymarket Company, runs from 5 November 2011 - 28 January 2012, with press night on 15 November 2011. The cast includes Robert Lindsay (Henry II), Joanna Lumley (Eleanor of Aquitane), Tom Bateman (Richard), Sonya Cassidy (Alais), Joseph Drake (John), Rory Fleck-Byrne (Philip) and James Norton (Geoffrey). The Mountaintop starring Samuel L. Jackson (DR. Martin Luther King, Jr.,) and Angela Bassett, directed by the Tony-nominated Kenny Leon (Fences, A Raisin in the Sun), opened officially on October 13, 2011 at the Bernard B. Jacobs Theatre. Taking place on April 3, 1968, The Mountaintop is a gripping reimagining of events the night before the assassination of civil rights leader DR. Manhattan Theatre Club's world premiere of WE LIVE HERE by Zoe Kazan, directed by Sam Gold, opened October 12 at New York City Center - Stage I. Due to popular demand, the production has been extended through Sunday, November 6. The show features Mark Blum, Jessica Collins, Betty Gilpin, Amy Irving, Oscar Isaac, and Jeremy Shamos. Cast members of Follies turned out yesterday as Serendipity 3 (225 E 60th Street btwn. 2nd and 3rd) revealed a special Follies sundae. The "Live, Laugh, Love Sundae" will be on sale at the popular midtown restaurant through the end of October. The sundae is a "Big Apple Pie" with cinnamon ice cream, caramel sauce, topped with whipped cream, red heart candy, large pink whimsical hearts and a twisted swirl lollipop on top. La Cage Aux Folles, starring film and TV actor George Hamilton and two-time Tony Award nominee and Christopher Sieber, just kicked off its national tour at Des Moines' Civic Center. Winner of three 2010 Tony Awards including Best Revival of a Musical, this flashy comedy made Tony Awards history as the first show ever to win the Tony Award three times for best production.
