D. Watts' Spoken Word Preserves: The Jam, an innovative, soul revealing "play on words" jam session, will take place on Monday, October 10th at the Helen Mills Spotlight Theatre, 139 West 26th Street (between 6th and 7th avenue), performance begins at 8pm. Tickets are $18 for advance general admission, $25 for advance reserved seating (limited availability), $20 at the door and available at www.vallinsandmalotke.com or by calling 646-363-6039.

"...The Jam" takes you on a ride from your grandmother's kitchenette to a Harlem afternoon to the Grim Reaper and back again. Headline talent includes Daniel J. Watts (In The Heights, Memphis, The Little Mermaid, The Color Purple), Derrick Baskin (Memphis, Spelling Bee, The Little Mermaid) Brandon Victor Dixon (Tony Award Nominee for The Color Purple, Lion King), Kenita Miller (The Color Purple, Xanadu) Luis Salgado (Women on the Verge, In The Heights), Candice Monet McCall (Memphis) and Dionne D. Figgins (Memphis, Hot Feet).

"N+N Productions is thrilled to team up with WattsWords Productions to highlight the art of spoken word. It is an art form that tends to slip under the radar and makes the perfect marriage with dance and song - bringing the incredible Broadway community together for a night to celebrate art." said Nikole Vallins and Natalie Malotke, Producers.

After having performed his critically acclaimed co-creation WORDS! with Derrick Baskin (The Tank, NYC; Clarke Studio at Lincoln Center), Watts' jam session is getting its legs for the first time on October 10th. It's full of everything we love: poetry, song, music, and dance, orbiting around the idea of spoken word. WattsWords Productions owner and the show's creator Daniel J. Watts is thrilled to give this platform to the artists in this community. "As an artist it is my duty to create and inspire." From one of his featured poems: "We (artists) are mother birds with child-like faith speaking off-spring words that fly away to be nurtured into new ideas. We must name them ‘Inspiration' and wait for their return."

Reservations recommended, running time is 75 minutes.
