In addition to starring a young Kevin Bacon as Ren, the original Footloose also starred Lori Singer as Ariel. It was originally written by Dean Pitchford and directed by Herbert Ross. A Broadway musical version of Footloose was previously staged in 1998.

The new film Footloose is said to be expanded into a "full-blown movie musical" from the earlier film. Stepping into those iconic roles are Kenny Wormald and Julianne Hough. The film will be produced by the highly successful team of Craig Zadan (a producer of the original "Footloose" in 1984) and Neil Meron

In addition to Hough and Wormald, the film also features Dennis Quaid as Rev. Shaw Moore, Ziah Colon as Rusty, Andie MacDowell as Vi, Miles Teller as Willard, and Ray McKinnon as Wes Warnicker.

Featuring choreography from Jamal Sims (who also choreographed RENT at the Hollywood Bowl last summer), Footloose is set for release on October 14; in the mean time, get a first glimpse at the movie below!
