The 5th annual Women's Awards were held on March 2, 2011 at the Stonewall Inn. The event is hosted by local community leader Yetta Kurland and nightlife star Marti Gould Cummings, and will benefit Hollaback!, an international movement to end street harassment.

"Women's contributions to the world are so critical - and yet they often go unrecognized. This is an opportunity for us to celebrate women's leadership in New York City and support an organization that is dedicated to gender equality on the streets and beyond," said Yetta Kurland, host of the event.

About the Women's Awards: The ceremony honors women who are making a difference for women in the greater LGBTQ communities. Co-sponsored by founder and chairperson Yetta Kurland, Broadway Speaks OUT, The Jim Owels Liberal Democratic Club, The Women's Democratic Club, and the Stonewall Inn, past attendees have included Alan Cumming, Nick Adams, and Kate Bornstein; and other celebrities, activists, and politicians.

About Hollaback!: Hollaback! is a movement dedicated to ending street harassment using mobile technology. Street harassment is one of the most pervasive forms of gender-based violence and one of the least legislated against. Comments from "You'd look good on me" to groping, flashing and assault are a daily, global reality for women and LGBTQ individuals. But it is rarely reported, and it's culturally accepted as ‘the price you pay' for being a woman or for being gay. At Hollaback!, we don't buy it.
